it actually seems to work today. The particular error that was happening is "well known" (by us web developer types) to be caused by javascript problems.

ST:Pandora "Enter the Enhasan"

January 20 2010
[Episode 1.1]

Stardate 87706.8, Sol Stardock

The air inside the USS Pandora was a bit on the tense side. Starfleet personnel quickly walked its corridors in silence, exchanging only the briefest of greetings as they went about their business. A male Trill with black hair, dressed in the trademark gold of Starfleet Engineering and on his way to the turbolift, did his best to maintain an air of calm around himself, however he wasn't sure how well he was succeeding. He glanced at a nearby screen that displayed, among other information, the time.

1045. He'll be arriving soon...

He turned a corner and saw the turbolift doors ahead of him. He couldn't understand why he was so nervous. The sound of quick footsteps made him look over his shoulder. A young Human ensign dressed in blue strode up next to him.

"You doing alright, War?"

Lieutenant War'en Lok let out a sigh. "As alright as I can be. I'll just be glad when this is over and we can finally get back to some normalcy on this ship."

Ensign Chet Redwing gave the Trill a sympathetic look. "Relax. It's not like he's going to throw you out the airlock or anything. Hell, he's probably even more nervous than you are. After all, you are giving command over to him."

The pair reached the turbolift doors, which slid open with their characteristic hiss.

"Bridge."

As soon as the door shut behind them, War'en took a deep breath and then let it out slowly. Redwing noticed and, before War'en could stop him, touched the turbolift control panel and brought it to a complete stop.

"Red, what are yo--"

War'en was immediately silenced by Redwing pulling him into a sudden kiss. He relaxed almost instantaneously and the tensions seemed to melt out of that one, solitary place in the Pandora. After a moment that wasn't long enough for either of them, Red pulled back and gave him a smile. War'en looked at the man's dark face, accented by the tattoo around his left eye.

"War'en, relax. Everything will go fine."

War'en nodded, the two separated, and Redwing restarted the turbolift.

"Besides, look at it this way: how often do you get to meet an Enhasan?"

War'en rolled his eyes with a small grin. "I knew it. You're just excited to meet a new species."

"There's only five in all of Starfleet, and this Commander Emun was one of the first to join! How can you not be excited about getting to meet someone like this, let alone work with him!?"

War'en just shook his head with a smirk as the turbolift stopped and its doors slid open. While he was starting to feel anxious again, he was nowhere near as tense as before. He quickly glanced at Redwing, who was now assuming his post at the bridge's Science console. As he walked to the captain's chair, he spoke to the blond woman manning one of the two consoles at the ship's front.

"Ensign Roberts, how is Pandora today?"

The half-Romulan turned toward him and gave a small smile. War'en could tell that it was a nervous one. The grief tattoo on her forehead and nose still brought him a pang of sadness, even though she'd had it for two weeks now.

"All systems are at optimal levels. It's like we--"

Talona stopped for a moment and her expression faltered before she recovered and spoke again. "-- like she's fresh out of the box, sir."

War'en gave her a nod, acting as if he hadn't noticed. "Ensign Shrel, any news from Stardock?"

The Bajoran gave a nod and looked over his shoulder back toward War'en. "Yes, sir. I just received word that Commander Emun is on his way to the Pandora via shuttlecraft. I've already notified the shuttle bay to be ready to receive him."

War'en nodded, then realized the bridge was looking at him expectantly. He cleared his throat and tried his best confident grin.

"Thank you, everyone. I'm incredibly proud of the work you've all done, and I know that Commander Emun will be as well."

Tolana and Redwing smiled while Chet offered a small nod before they returned to their work. War'en took a seat in the chair he had been occupying for the last few weeks and suddenly realized that, while he was for the most part glad to be handing over the responsibilities he had had to assume, he was also going to miss them a little.

Maybe someday...

Personal Log, Aurenen Consari, Stardate 86461.8

January 19 2010
Captain's personal log, stardate 86461.8.

The Bonaventure has had a bit of downtime today. We've had a very eventful first voyage out into the sectors of space, and I'm finding this vessel to handle itself much better than the Manchester. The Manchester is a sturdy little ship, but it's nice to have a ship that is truly my own, rather than taken over from a fallen captain.

The ladder from Ensign has been a fast one so far. I hear I'm not the only one who's been practically thrown up the rungs after the encounter with the strange-acting Borg vessels.

The Borg...

I don't think we expected to see them again for some time yet. Though they weren't as powerful as when encountered at Wolf 359, they were still formidable foes. Having never been to Wolf 359, I used our downtime to warp into the sector. What I saw was...

I have a hard time describing. The dead hulls of the ships floating in space around a Federation beacon...knowing each one of those lifeless hunks out there had once been filled with life, with purpose. Officers, their families...children.

Our bridge was silent. Eyes just riveted to the screen, watching the ships float by. This was loss. War is loss. And I can't help but to wonder how many more graveyards like this we will see. The Borg, the Dominion War...and now another, a mere three decades later.

No matter to what end, it shows one constant. We can change, people can evolve, live die...but war...war never changes. And once again...we prepare. But at what cost?

You all, I can't describe to you enough how amazingly touching this is. You had me in tears as I read this.

I'm so glad that we started this fleet because without it, I wouldn't have met all you fantastic people. If it hadn't been for all of you, this Fleet wouldn't be what it is today. All of your dedication and energy helped to keep me motivated and goal oriented to keep pushing for the site and the fleet to be better and better.

Seeing the membership grow, more and more people in the chatroom and our long discussion about everything under the sun has been wonderful. I can't wait to play this lifetime with all of you.

Thank you so much.

Nick,

I want you to know that I am thrilled to be here among such an amazing group of people. This thread is very moving.

I thank you for having me, and taking the time out of your busy life to keep the site looking and functioning beautifully. When I signed up here last year, it was quiet. Now, the fleet has grown immensely and has become a very lively place.

Enjoy your gift, Well deserved, and heres to many fun times with Stonewall Fleet in the final frontier!

IE7 on WinXP currently unhappy with the page. It shows the page, but a modal dialog pops up saying there's a problem with the page and will abort. Clicking 'OK' then wipes the screen, and leaves you with a "click to diagnose the connection problem" IE-error page.

Firefox works fine.

wow you two...haha

I'm game for it. I definitely prefer the (forgive me for putting it this way) the Berman dating style which seems to be the most canonized in terms of dating events. given what M-A comments about ST:Nemesis' stardate (56844.9) and that the 1K digit placeholder is the year, that would put STO roughly at 87844.9 or thereabouts :)

I ain't got that kinda time to write all that about my chic. She a hussy. That's all. She slept around to get where she is and has the (insert something vulgar here) to prove it.

But yes, adding the race information/traits is a good idea....especially when we go live.

Enhasans

BASIC INFO
Home Planet: Enhasa
Government: The Meritocracy of Enhasa
Population: 7 billion over 1 planet
Tech Status: Warp-capable
Affiliation: Federation Ally
Race Traits: Soldier, Efficient, Astrophysicist (Selected for in Enhasan Starfleet applicants by the Enhasan government, see below.)

PROFILE
Biology
Enhasans are a humanoid race, though are easily differentiated from humans and other humanoid species. They have a pair of bone growths on the sides of their heads, as well as a forehead structure similar to the Antarans. They are slightly taller than humans.

Most notably, however, is the fact that Enhasan blood is vanadium-based, as opposed to humans (red blood from an iron base) and vulcans (green blood from a copper base). Vanadium, which has the largest number of oxidation states of any element on the periodic table, can form a variety of organometallic complexes that are colored across the entire visible spectrum. As a result, Enhasans and other such species have skin and hair color that can range from red through green to blue and purple. Their hair is usually very vibrant in color, and their skin possesses a subtle tint of the same color, whatever it happens to be.

Culture
Enhasan society is characterized by a strict, government-controlled caste system. From the moment of birth until legal recognition of adulthood, Enhasans are continually evaluated on their skills and aptitudes, resulting in training and sorting that places them in a role where they will 'best serve Enhasa'. Roles that require extensive training and 'exceptional' aptitude are of the Ya-Shin (literally "those of the sky") caste, while those that require minimal training and 'average or less' aptitude are of the Udu ("ground dwellers") caste. The two castes are extensively segregated in Enhasan society, with the Udu residing on the planet's surface and the Ya-Shin living in a vast, complex network of orbital stations. Children are traditionally sorted into the two castes at the age of 10.

To 'ensure the purity of the Meritocracy', procreation is strictly controlled, to the point where all Enhasans are sterilized at birth. While Enhasans choose romantic partners within their castes, the may only procreate when permitted by the government (that supplies drugs which re-enable reproductive systems) and with a member of the other caste. It is believed that this ensures 'birth favoritism' does not 'corrupt society'. Enhasans are not raised by their biological parents, but by caregivers assigned to them. Their only connection to their parents is their name; an Enhasan's last name is the name of the biological parent from the same caste, and the middle name is that of the parent from the other caste.

This caste system prevents Enhasans from joining the Federation as members due to the Federation Charter, but it is an allied world. As per Starfleet's directive in 2391 to expand officer opportunities for citizens of allied worlds, several Enhasans a year are selected by the government for application to Starfleet Academy. It has been noted that Enhasans serving in Starfleet appear to occupy an uncertain area in Enhasan society. While they are of the Ya-Shin caste, the physical separation required to serve in Starfleet seems to cast them as 'outsiders'. It has also been noted that while the environment of the Enhasan caste system seems to limit the creative and synergistic thinking of Enhasan officers, they are exceedingly efficient and excel at delegation and organization.

Race Profiles

January 13 2010
In creating a race in the Public Lounge, I realized I was going really, really in-depth. It was well past the point at which anyone who was not doing RP would need information. With that in mind, I thought it would be good to have a thread in the Holodeck that had such in-depth info, so RPers would have that info and the non-RPers could easily access barebones info elsewhere.
