Re: Profiles now visible to non logged in users.

I've returned the profiles back to their previous settings. They're no longer visible for those not log in.

If you'd like a URL to give out, you can create one by clicking here. Anyone who sees the URL will be able to see your profile. You could consider using this link in your STO Forum signature.

Remember me doesn't work?

July 15 2010
Over the years, I've heard on and off complaints that the sites 'remember me' function doesn't work. I've been doing some research into the matter and this seems to be a rather complicated issue dealing with Joomla.

Personal accounts and more information should help me track down the issue. Have you had a problem with it? What browser and OS do you use? Do you have the most recent version of your browser? (If you're using IE6, you friggin need to update.) Does it never work or does it expire after a certain amount of time?

Some background information. The 'remember me' function on websites use cookies to store the log in and session information for your site. When you access a site, that information is read from the sites cookie stored on your computer and automatically logs you in.

If you don't allow cookies to be saved onto your computer or you clear your cookies, the 'remember me' function simply will not work. Cookies naturally expire after a certain amount of time as well. This is for security purposes. This way if someone else is using your old computer or device they won't be able to log into your accounts forever.

One of the suggestions for fixing problems with the 'remember me' function is to give it a higher priority than the legacy function (The legacy function allows us to use outdated components on the site.) which I've already done. So if you have had problems with this in the past, it may clear up over the next couple weeks. If you wanna speed up how quickly the changes will take effect, go ahead and delete the cookies on your computer. If you use multiple browsers, delete the cookies from all your browsers.

Stonewall Idol - Episode 4: The Results/ Top 3!

July 15 2010
Last week we heard the sounds of Michael Jackson as your Top 4 brought you several of his biggest hits.. now it all comes down to you, Universe-ers, you have all voted and the results are in! Are you ready to find out your Top 3?! Get ready, because...

This is Stonewall Idol!

Thank you for joining us tonight as we reveal the results of your voting. Tonight, Mandy, Mark, Larry or Eric will be leaving us tonight. While this may be the end of the road for one of your Idols, it is the continuation for 3 of them on their journey to become the next Stonewall Idol!

So without further delay, here are your results.

Sparkie, can you please step forward... Last week you sang one of MJ's biggest hits, "Bad". Was this a "bad"choice in condemning yourself due to the song title?... Well... the Universe did not think so! YOU ARE IN OUR TOP 3! CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

One down, 3 to go...

Eric, will you please step forward... Last week you sang one of MJ's hits from his Jackson 5 days, "Blame it on the Boogie". Will you be blaming your departure tonight on this boogie?... NOPE... CONGRATULATIONS!!!! YOU ARE ALSO IN OUR TOP 3

Before we find out if Mandy or Larry are leaving us tonight, a word from our sponsors, ZepariINC:

rry, it has been an honor having you on the show and we will all miss you! Will you perform for us one last time?

s it for tonight folks! Join us on the next episode where your Top 3 will debut their STO inspired parodies! This is your host, Brandon, signing off from subspace. Have a great night!

Re: Star Trek Sword used in Robbery

Yep, definitely dumbest criminal. I am surprised he didn't get laughed at when trying to hold up a store.

I just thought it was funny that the reporters on a couple of spots kept referring to it as star trek sword. They could have at least looked it up and and found the right name.

Eric, I think the Holodeck stories are fine where they are. As Nick said anything that is important will be kept no matter how long ago it was posted. The stories should be easily accessable as new members will enjoy reading them as much as we have. :)

Quick question: should those of us that have written stuff on the Holodeck move our older material to somewhere off-site, and just link to it in a master thread?

I'm a bit offended, yes, but how funny it is to laugh at stupid f*'ing people is the true payoff. ;) Honestly though, satire is satire, never read too much into it.

I am, however, somehow reminded of this clip:

Update: New Events Section

July 14 2010
Heya,

We've switched to a new events system on the site. This one is much more integrated into our social network system. It has some nice new features, the main one we're excited about is time zone handling. When you look at the events page, they should show up in your own time zone now. This will make posting events much easier for us.

JFYI:

If the times on the site don't match your time, make sure you have the correct time zone set in your profile. Go to Profile > Edit Profile > Edit Details or click here and check the time zone. If the times still aren't right, then use the Daylight Saving Times (DST) Offset option to adjust it manually.
