Share your STO UI Layout

July 30 2010
Hey gang!

I was wondering if anyone else would be interested in sharing how they've organised their UI, specifically in space (there's so much less HUD on the ground it's not so relevant). I thought it might be useful to show how you've laid things out, and note any particular reasons why.

So here's a screencap of mine (from a couple of days ago actually, made using '/screenshot_ui'). As you can see, personally I like the UI Scale reduced to fit in everything I want at the bottom of the screen taking up as little space as possible. I like to see the pretty graphics!

I use all ten of the hotbar spaces on three hotbar rows, though when it's only displaying two rows that means there are fourteen slots you can't actually see. To help me remember where everything is, I've arranged my various powers logically (to me), with my most used powers in 1-10 (I use the number pad btw, numbers 1 to 8, then slot 9 is the '-' key and 0 is the '+' key. No idea why you can't actually map to the 9 on the number pad, or at least I can't.), then mostly buffs and heals in Ctrl 1-10, and very rarely used powers and devices in Alt 1-10. I use the two row hotbar because I like to see my BO slots. No idea why, it just makes them seem more relevant I suppose. Anyhow, I've recently rearranged my powers tray to account for VA1 powers, so if anyone's any good at recognising the power icons, it looks like this:

Otherwise, I like the hull/shield ring indicator roughly centred as that's pretty much the most relevant thing in a fight; especially since I prefer the shield rings turned off. It's flanked by the powers so I can easily see the cool-downs on the more important abilities, with the map/power bars/throttle least important in an emergency to at the edges.

The chat box is where it always is in every MMO I've played, so I'm just used to it there. I can't normally be bothered to watch the combat spam, so usually the chat box is on my 'Fleet' tab, which only shows Fleet chat, PMs, and team chat.

So if anyone would like to/wouldn't mind sharing theirs, I'd be really interested to see! Ciao!

Where you at Pride 2010?

I was suppose to make a list of everyone at the events, but, shockingly, I forgot. So now I'm trying to put together a list of those who attended so I can give out the Pride 2010 ribbon! If you attended any of the events, for any amount of time, please post a reply below and I'll add you to this list of recipients.

Thanks!

Stonewall Idol - Episode 6: The Results/ Top 2!

July 29 2010
Last week we heard the sounds of your Idols singing STO inspired parodies. We laughed, we cried, we... well... you know. The voting lines are closed and the votes have been tallied. Who will be going home? Who will be making it to the finale? And who is in your top two? Get ready, because...

This is Stonewall Idol!

Thank you for joining us tonight as we reveal the results of your voting. Tonight, Mandy, Mark, or Eric will be leaving us tonight. While this may be the end of the road for one of your Idols, it is the continuation for 2 of them onto the finals and getting one step closer to realizing their dreams and becoming the FIRST Stonewall Idol!

So without further delay, here are your results.

Mandy, can you please step forward... Last week you brought us an amazing parody of the Mamas and the Papas... Well... get ready to thank your mama and papa because YOU ARE IN OUR TOP 2 and the finale! CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

One down, 2 to go...

Before we find out if Mark or Eric are leaving us tonight, a word from our sponsors, Paula Deen Foods:

Welcome back to the show. So far, tonight, we have learned that Mandy will be competing for the top spot next week! Congratulations, again.

We still have yet to find out the fate of Mark and Eric.

Mark and Eric, will you please step forward. Mark, you sang a STO parody to the "Wizard and I;" are you going to make it to Oz? Eric, you sang a STO parody to "The Last Night on Earth" but the question is, is this your last night on idol? After millions of votes, Mark... Eric... one of you is leaving us tonight. But who? ...

I am sorry to say, but Eric, you will be leaving the show tonight :(

Eric, it has been an honor having you on the show and we will all miss you! Will you perform for us one last time?

Congratulations Mark for making it onto the Top 2 and the finals! We look forward to your performance next week.

Join us on the next episode where your Top 2 will compete for the top spot while singing songs from the Billboard Top 100! As always, an example from your host shall we?

That's it for tonight folks! This is your host, Brandon, signing off from subspace. Have a great night!

Re: A Stonewall Guide to Diplomacy 1.2

July 29 2010
This is great - so useful! thanks so much!

One thing maybe to mention (i may have just missed it) is that if you redo a mission you have to start over talking to everyone. For instance, I thought during the Vulcan mission that after the first failure (because I missed the guy on the far off hill), that I could just talk to that one guy (since I knew what the other guys said) but I eventually realized I had to respeak to all the appropriate NPCs. Yeah, I know respeak is not a word, but you know what I mean.

thanks again
