Well on that score, as far as I'm aware, beside the fact that very few games natively take full advantage of an SLI set-up, as the load has to be spread between two cards instead of one there will always be an inherent, albeit minuscule, addition latency. There's also the problem of heat to consider; the more you put in your box, the harder it is for the air to move through it. So in theory one awesome graphics card will always be better than two. I was actually considering going to SLI myself, instead of buying a more expensive, new, graphics card when I upgraded last, but the b/f talked me out of it.

Haha, damn those Chodak! I still have my entire package for that game (the blue quadrilateral with all the books and everything!). I actually didn't use my CD. I found a place online to download it with a really good DOS emulator. Worked the first time. I've STILL been dying on the Chodak transporter. I thought I'd come right back to the game after suffering on it so long so many years ago. Yeah, I do remember the basic premise, but I had forgotten how temperamental it with you saying the EXACT correct thing. I wish that STO would implement some more of this type of diplomacy, kind of like they did with that one Deferi mission. Know the situation, know your opponent, know yourself and Starfleet, and you MIGHT get the right outcome.

I'm wondering something very similar: I currently have two GTX 260s SLI and was wondering about upgrading to a GTX 570 (or 560) and whether it would be worth it, would it provide a significant graphics power boost, etc.

Close, lol in the dreams id tell the sims what to do but they wouldn't do it... its like a dream that you get in a fight with a friend and wake up really mad at them....

Here's a link to their website and their trailer they used to reveal the game at Comic Con 2010. It's got elements from the original Spore game where you can custom design your creature's and then equip them. I believe it going to be an MMO, with PVP, and other RPG elements.

So, after all the fuss my b/f made about me wanting to upgrade my PC, he's now immediately decided he must now upgrade too. And spend more than me. Rude. lol

So anyhow, he's torn between two graphics cards, and has asked me to request the advice of the most techno-savvy people I know. And so I come to you. :)

The two he's choosing between are:
a Asus GeForce GTX 480 1536MB, or
a Gainward GeForce GTX 560Ti "Phantom" 2048MB.

It's not just raw power he wants an opinion on, but also value for money evaluation. So if you have time, your opinions would be very gratefully received! Love y'all!

What is dark spore supposed to be?

No they never removed the requirement for SecuROM on the retail DVD for Spore. However, I'm sure the new Dark Spore game they plan to release will probably use a system similar to what the use in most their other games like Sims.

I'm guessing that only the digital version downloaded from their store will have SecuROM. And hopefully the retail DVD's wont have SecuROM but will still need to the CD-Key method, and will always need to be in the DVD drive during start up.

But they never removed the DRM requirement for Spore.

@SaintPlazma, yeah I agree... BotF was probably the best space turn based strategy game ever released after MOOII (Master of Orion 2).

Master of Orion 3 was a complete disaster. I actually threw my copy of it in the garbage I was so pissed off with how they ruined it.
