Re: Event Survey

May 11 2011
I have replied but as far as time zones go for availability of runs the list is a bit too wide time wise. For example when it say 10am - 4pm I would have to say no even though I am only unavailable up until say 12pm and so the last 4 hours are fine.

It is good though that the survey is up to try and sort out times when us europeans are out and about as we can feel left out at times. Trying to find an alternative non audio way of doing STF's would be nice as well :(

Hey everyone, thanks for the replies so far. They've been really good, but we'd love even more feedback. The form is still up and we're still open to some feedback.

Some of the questions are very open-ended, but don't worry about writing a story. Just let us know what you're thinking!

I was a fan since it was first aired.

Season one was mostly disappointing... But season two was a dramatic improvement. Sorry to see it go... :(

I had a feeling it would be something like that. Thanks.

Any missions that have doors in Gamma Orionis are basically limited to RA 3 and above.

I'd highly suggest getting yourself to your local gaming shop. If they sell D&D figurines, either the staff will know what to do, or they will know who will know what to do.

Re: Doctor Who?...

May 10 2011
I'm liking it so far. The plot holes are a fixture of Doctor Who, as with any long running time travel series, but they do seem to be getting more frequent and obvious as the writers try to make the series more complicated and riddled with cryptic clues. For example the River Song, back to front, storyline is not making much sense, how come she didn't realise that the when she met the doctor for his first time, in the library, that she was about to die? I also don't like that they seem to have ruled out future Doctors and removed some of the "anything can happen" feeling by showing us how the Doctor dies. I hope it's all a trick.

I much prefer the earlier series where the clues and series story arc was subtle enough for you not to notice until the big reveal at the end. I loved the "how did I miss that" feeling. This time round there is so much emphasis on the big mystery, and they put a neon sign round all the clues to whip the fanbase into a frenzy of speculation, that I'm getting a bit annoyed by it. It the big reveal can only be a let down now, lol.

still part way through season 2 in the UK. I'm sad its ending coz season 2 so far has been good. Still think it took too long to establish parameters in the first season, probs why people gave up on it.

I mean taking a season and a bit to discover the bridge? hello!!!

I agree, this was one of my favorite sci-fi series of all time... I liked that it was dark and gritty. One of the things that always annoyed me about SG-1 and SGA was that they cheated too much with all their advanced technology but still tried to pull-off the "modern day" Earth.

(On a side note: I liked Chloe a lot more in the second season.)

Re: Stellarcartography 101

Thanks for the heads up!

I took a closer look at that grid square and if you follow it back in the general direction of Earth you will find Azati (where the large weapon was built; "Azati Prime" ENT-318), Triannon (the crazy religious zealots; "Chosen Realm" ENT-312), and Xindus (the original destroyed homeworld; "The Xindi" ENT-301).

So, I'm convinced now that this is the right neighborhood. Since Gamma Orionis is "Borg Space" in-game, what does that do as far as mission accessibility for lower level players if a Foundry Mission is created in that area?

I'd suggest using a paint thinner product (not a paint stripper) and apply it carefully and only to the unwanted layer of paint, maybe using q-tips. This should allow you to remove one layer of paint at a time without damaging the layer beneath too badly. I'd do this as soon as possible to reduce the staining or discolouration of the paint beneath. You will still need to do some restoration to the original paint layer, but this method should not damage the plastic model.

Thanks guys...Zepari, I'm tempted to try that but I REALLY don't want to damage the original paint :(

Re: Doctor Who?...

I'm liking it. :)

It does feel a bit "up itself" sometimes and like it's trying too hard... the "Bad Wolf" stuff from a while back was at least noticeable, but they just did exactly the same thing on a smaller scale with "Silence" - not quite as epic and just a bit pointless!

You can't really complain about plot holes in Dr. Who... it's been riddled with holes for at least the last 4 seasons! I can think of about 20 for the last 3 episodes!

It's got some good ideas tho. I like the new doc (needs his Fez back), I like the "living lives back to front" thing, and the last (pirate) episode was "Classic Who" (to quote my ex).

There's rumour this might be the first series ever made without Daleks.. not sure how I feel about that :(

I'm guessing Eyepatch woman is a midwife that delivered/delivers Amy's (half-timelord?) daughter. That'll obviously be the thread holding the series together - will be interesting to see how it ends up!

How are you all finding the series so far then?

I think the first two were some of the strongest episodes since the reboot - the second episode in particular had a great mix of drama, comedy and horror. Everything in the orphanage was sheer brilliance, especially Amy seeing herself reflected in the glass. I was totally on the edge of my seat!

The pirates episode was OK but nothing special - riddled with plot holes and inconsistencies, and do we really need another 'Rory dies then comes back' bit?

Now... what do we make of eyepatch woman?

According to STOwiki it's Humans, but this is subjective, and not a hard and fast rule. I like my Caitian, but didn't grab the lunge as I'm more of a space player - really I just wanted a cat.

Re: Stargate Universe Series Finale

May 10 2011
I for one am sad to see the series ending, and all the movies scraped :( Enjoyed SGU more than SG1 and Atlantis.

Here's hoping for a reboot in a couple years time.

Stargate Universe Series Finale

May 10 2011
Yestarday, SGU's Series Finale aired.

It was an all and all decent ending. At least it wasn't a cliff hanger like Atlantis was, but in the end it was an ending. I'm rather sad to see it go. I think the storylines and episodes in the second season where some of the best Stargate, nay, best sci-fi I've ever seen. Based on the first season, I wasn't surprised they decided to cancel it, but the show really matured in the second season. I have hopes for a tv movie that finishes out the storyline, but I doubt that'll ever happen; it didn't even happen for Atlantis.

So what did you all think of it?
