Re: Steam Group?!

I use steam but only for "Call of Duty: Black Ops" and "Civilization 5". I don't use the steam launcher for all my games. Currently, I just use it for the games that require it.

Wow, the UI completely shows up STO. I'm not one for Free-To-Play games and I've already wrote this off as nothing more than a "5 minute try" game on my radar but to be honest that video makes it look a lot better than I ever would have guessed.

Really impressed with how nice and clean the UI was. Really Impressed.

Didn't Cryptic hire a UI guy? :S

I just got done playing this mission and I really enjoyed it! I love missions with lots of story and dialogue. I'm hoping there is a sequel coming, otherwise I'm a little sad how it ended... :(

One tiny little nit-picky issue I had was with the computer core puzzle. I took it too literally and multiplied everything by "pi" and not "3.14" (I was too lazy to go find a calculator and just put the puzzle into MatLab, lol). It caused all my answers to be be slightly different.

Doesn't really hold a candle to STO honestly. Though the UI and the contact system do look very nice.

So I'm finally getting around to playing Foundry missions and this was the first one I tried. Loved it Ali!

:pinch: SPOILER WARNING!!! :pinch:

I'm curious how you made the vortex with the floating "spirit". I sorta want to do something similar.

And on a tangent, does anyone have nay ideas on how to make a space hazard that isn't an explosion? I'm trying to recreate the "spatial anomaly" phenomenon from season 3 of Enterprise. Something that's light damage and semi-invisible. The barriers from "The Vault" are a good likeness, but I'm still too clumsy with the tools to recreate that sort of effect.

They could always replace the Atari logo with one of the old time Space Invaders blocky icons of the aliens that used to go back and forth across the screen. Last time I checked, my Atari system still worked and all the games too! Yet, I've probably been through 10 PCs since then.

Finally had the chance to sit down and play this, and I absolutely loved it!

As I said in my review in-game, the maps and the puzzles in particular are stand-outs. And even though I used a similar "zoning witout zoning" trick in my mission, I was still left in awe and wondering how you did the transition of leaving the compound and running outside to the shuttle. Amazing.

All in all, it's obvious that you must have spent a lot of time on this, and it's paid off.

Very well done!

I suggest you advertise on StarbaseUGC, Foundrymissions.com and the STO forums if you haven't already.

And if you do get negative comments about the same-sex relationship, you MUST ignore them. Don't EVER take this mission down. I wish we'd had an episode of one of the TV series that had this storyline, and I live in hope that Cryptic will produce an official mission that features a same-sex partnership so prominently as your mission does.

Well done again.

If its running the Unity 3d engine then its likely to have the same flaws as BSG Online (Battlestar Galactica) and a similar style of game play. None of those actually appealed to me and the shear amount of background data downloaded to the PC over a play session was phenomenal.

If they had figured out a way to 'pre load' the Unity cache overnight when I have free internet I would quite happily give it a go but as things stand.. its not for me.

Just played this one tonight -- it was nice that the mission was a departure from the norm. I agree that the vacationers on the beach were well characterized. Interesting story -- I enjoyed it!

Re: Steam Group?!

haha... well it's worth checking out Steam if only for the regular special offers. :P

The games seem to run exactly the same through Steam as without, Sean... and for those games that don't like being alt-tabbed, you can then instead access the internet by shift-tabbing to get the Steam overlay up - can be handy! :)

xD i'd join the steam group if ya made one >.> but i don't use Steam much i only have HL2 and CSS on it ^^, Windows live for me ^_^. That asid you could use XFire for help getting ppl online for STFs since that too shows what your playing and can chat out of game also ^^. I used to use XFire soooo much back in the day of Star Trek Bridge Commander and Star trek Armada 2 ^^

This mission was just awesome!
I definitely had a few "oh shit" moments when some of the creatures caught me off guard! The custom environments were awesome and gave the mission a really terrific feel! I was enjoying the mission so much that I took a few screenies! Really good work!
