There's a unofficial patch for that. Even for the steam version.

I tried this and it quasi worked for me, I had to shut off all cinematics and the game would still freeze/crash on me sometimes. So I guess it's success varies but it's worth a shot at least.

Speaking of books, I def recommend Deceived for those who have not read it. Pretty good book and really enjoyed learning more about Darth Malgus.

I understand we EU folk will be joining the USA server now, so pleeease let me know what server you end up on as soon as you find out, and I'll try to make my toons there... hopefully the ping won't be too bad...

Is it going to be the same server for Republic & Empire?

Ah, good, another European!

Latency wasn't an issue during the two beta weekends, at least not for PVE. Didn't try any PVP. I currently play LOTRO, the servers moved to the US a while ago, there have been no problems at all.

If i remember correctly we'll receive an email with the name of the server on witch the guilds will be created. As soon as we get them, someone is bound to post that name on the forum.

If they create the guilds (allies and adversaries) on different severs, then no doubt we will move servers.

Well, I just uninstalled the old client and any residue that it left and went to download the new client, but now I cant find the download page =/.

It used to be on the swtor.com/tester page. But that page doesn't exist anymore.

People who have been testing previous to the 25th, received an email. I'm sure someone here can post these instructions for you.

People who haven't beta tested at all but pre-ordered still need to install the game. We'll probably receive instructions before the 15th.

I see what you mean. It just looks.. Old. I just couldnt get into it. Oh well, atleast it was just $10. And yeah, the book was great. I was thinking the same thing about rescuing revan sometime in the endgame. Guess we'll see.

Since we still have 9 days till head start, i thought i might kill some time by playing through KotOR again. I havent played it since it came out in 2003 so i figured why not. Its only $10 on steam. Besides, reading the revan book that came out last month kind of made we want to play it again. I hope its as good as i remember and it holds up to time.

I'll have to try Wales when I go to the UK in 2012. They don't have a lot of castles here in the US ;)

The only two I can think of are owned by the guy whose hat you're wearing in your avatar. ;)

haha, the only other one I know of is when I lived in the U.S, I went to NYC for spring break. There's a little one in central park, that be about it!

I ordered two CE for SWTOR. One for me, one for my wife. I was at the Gamestop at 10am and was home entering the codes by 10:30. My last final is over with on the 13th, so I will be ready to go with non-stop play time for almost a month. Classes start back up on the 11th of January.

I have been waiting for another Star Wars MMO since SOE ruined my Galaxies game (Eclipse Server FTW). I know I will be playing a Trooper, but I just was not feeling the joy-joy feelings with healing on a trooper. Might go Vanguard and tank instead.

I have an itching feeling that not everyone is going to get in on the 15th like folks think. As DakonKor said, it will be more like waves of folks getting in starting on the 15th. I pre-ordered a day after the game came out but am not counting on getting in on the 15th.

Van, you nailed it. BioWare specifically said that they would be granting Early Access in waves based on when you pre-ordered. That's why they said the earlier you pre-order, the earlier you'll get to play. They want to avoid the Launch Day issues that plague nearly every other MMO release by minimizing the impact of everyone trying to log in at once. Based on what they've said, I anticipate they'll let in a new wave once the impact of the previous one has leveled out.

I was searching for some info on Jedi Consular Shadow tanking and came across this post. It seems mostly theorycrafting at this point, but some basics and helpful information on this Advanced Class are included. Enjoy!

Re: What server are the guilds going to be on?

Hello chaps!

Sorry I've been away for a while - mainly cos end-game in STO didn't hold my interest... :(

I'm really looking forward to TOR but have missed the boat on joining the guild (the website seems permanently down at the mo anyway).

I understand we EU folk will be joining the USA server now, so pleeease let me know what server you end up on as soon as you find out, and I'll try to make my toons there... hopefully the ping won't be too bad...

Is it going to be the same server for Republic & Empire?

Thanks!

Well, I just read everyone's responses (which are vomiting bubbly feelings left and right) and it did not really help in toning down my excitement >_>. I hope I get to atleast reserve my toon name.

Well, your name is one of two on the "Name Reservation" list that Angel is managing, not to mention how unique it is, so I know I will at least attempt to get as many of the names reserved as I can. My husband and I purchased the day Pre-Orders started so I'm expecting to get in during the first couple of waves.

Is this 'name reservation' list on the forums? I looked around and couldnt find it.

Ok, this is what it actually says from the official posting:

If you have played in our game testing program at any point from November 25th onwards, you will not need to re-install the game client, as you should already have the launch version installed.

To verify that you have the launch version installed, you can check for the "assets_swtor_main.version" file in the following location on your computer: \Program Files (x86)\EA\BioWare\Star Wars – The Old Republic (assuming default installation). If you have that file present, you do not need to reinstall the game client.

With that said, some users may notice that their game client folder is much larger than 27 GB on their system. This may be due to having redundant files from previous versions of the client. If you need to clear up space, we recommend completely uninstalling the client and downloading and installing the launch game client. Again, we’ll update this post with more instructions when they’re available.
