A Sithy Christmas (added a Jedi Christmas Tale)

December 25 2011
A Sithy Chrismas

My light saber twinkled from gems that I found.
for I knew he'd be coming for armor that bound.

I holocalled friends and left them in fear.
for I knew this day was coming near.

This force that I use it burns deep inside.
Fear isn't a weakness so I shall not hide.

I hung up the lights to look so sincere.
Then sat by my bay door and listened for deer.

I stared at the tree and heard in delight.
Was it true, is it him, on this very night?!

I tightened my grip on my saber to fight.
When my door blew open I jumped in a fright.

I swung with a hiss and heard a "Ho ho oh DEAR!"
Oh crap I just killed Santa here come the reindeer!

I ran for the escape pod and pulled it real quick.
Oh crap it's not enabled as I felt a hard kick.

For this is my story on this Chritmas Day.
When I killed santa and died by his slay.

So if you did read this and read in delight.
Then have a Sithy Christmas and I wish you a good night!

There are others out there, but some chose a different server because they wanted to be on the RP server...like my old guild from Lord of the Rings Online-Knights of the White Lady.

An alien mind takes over crew-members' bodies, and Chakotay is left apparently brain-dead after something attacks his shuttlecraft.

Enjoy!

I've seen The Color Purple more times than I can count. When I read the message thread subject, that was the first movie that came to mind even before I read the first post. The last scene has me in tears every time. Watching what Celie had to go through her whole life and seeing all those characters develop throughout the movie, sets up the last scene perfectly. Of course it doesn't hurt seeing Oprah get bopped with the sheriff's gun either! But what a movie and a tear jerker!

How about tv shows? The final sequence of six feet under. It illustrates the hard truth behind the series, death is a part of life.

Any of The Lord of the Rings movies, and not because they are sad, but because they are just so amazingly beautiful.

Made me cry (a massive feat): Life is Beautiful; Pan's Labrynth; My Dog Skip; What Dreams May Come.

I guess it's a pretty short list for me.

Sixu,

"Empire of the Sun" is one of my favorite films of all time (and yes, it did make me cry). Christian Bale was extraordinary in his role and he was only thirteen!

I loved John Williams' score to the film and especially like that they included "Suo Gan." We sing an Anglicized version every Christmas as it is such an effective melody and so well-received. Here is last year's recording in case you want to hear it:

Suo Gan starts at 13:25 or there abouts.

Thanks so much for the link! Yeah, he was exceptional in the film. I believe i was about 10-11 when I first saw it and its definitely a film that stays with you like Schindlers List. :( :)

Here's the same lulaby in the original Welsh (a little clearer than in EotS!)

Re: What species would you want added?

All the species we listed would either be pro-Republic or neutral, most being pro-Republic. They will add more species with expansions, but I think it'll be difficult justifying adding an equal number to the Sith Empire since they tend to practice speciesism towards "aliens" or the non-humanoids.

I was very surprised that they didn't include Sullustans or Rodians as they fit the Smuggler persona so well. Mon Calamari would be kind of cool so I could just run around shouting "It's a trap!".

The documentary of the Stonewall Riots.

The first film I actually remember crying my eyes out over, is Empire of the Sun by Steven Spielberg.

I wont ruin it too much if you haven't seen it, but essentially a British family get separated on the outbreak of WWII in Shanghai, when Japan invaded China and the British were forced to evacuate the Shanghai International Settlement. In the evacuation Jamie (The British schoolboy played by Christian Bale) is separated from his parents and ends up in a Japanese concentration camp. We see the journey through his eyes.

****SPOLIERS***

This scene where he's reunited is so poigniant, because Jamies transformation during the ordeal is so much, his parents don't recognise him at first:

it also featured the Welsh language lulaby: Suo Gan
