I am a HUGE Izzard fan, and completely forgot about that sketch! Thanks for the reminder. I also choose to belive that the SWTOR developers chose the term "Cantina" based solely on this sketch. It gives me a happy.

Instead, I firmly believe that we must have a certain level of decorum in all of the areas of our guild and our PG-13 Policy is the best middle of the road that we have.

As Kasper stated, you should still approach our public areas as you would in any public area. You wouldn't boast about your latest "conquest" in the middle of a crowded restaurant (actually, some probably would) so don't do it in guild chat.

One of the best bits of advice I can give is that if something is bothering you or offending you is to speak up either to the person causing you to feel uncomfortable or to an officer. Most of the time, people don't realize what they're saying is offensive or inappropriate.

First, i'd like to say to i find it important that all you fellow guildies feel at home on our guild chat. It should be a place where people help/advice each other. It should be a place where you can small talk about the cool thing that just happened to your toon. There's no point being in a guild where you feel uncomfortable. Personally, i feel at home on our chat channel.

Reading these posts, i think i've stepped out of line a few times too. I've read the code of conduct. I've looked up PG-13 on wikipedia. I only have a vague idea what is considered inappropriate for a pre-teen. A lot of parents would probably find any gay reference inappropriate for their 13 year old.

The guild chat channel is indeed a public place. To me, it doesn't feel like a crowded restaurant, it feels more like a gay bar after everyone had a few drinks. I realize that not everyone would feel at home in such a public place.

If someone ever feels uncomfortable by anything i say in guild chat, please don't hesitate to remind me to behave myself.

Let me know if there's anything I can do to help you guys with in or out of game. Right now I'm playing pretty consistently. Not specific times (that's all over the place), but I'm on for long periods of time every day or two. So if anyone needs any help (that I'm able to provide) whether it be administrative, advice, or help with a mission, let me know.

I'm not a big spender. I just want a table dance. :woohoo:

I'm also glad I'm not the only one who occasionally completely undresses my character. They did a good job on the bodies, especially the bottoms of the characters...and how for artistic effect in conversation scenes they show the distant shot of the talking character's face, but the foreground is the posterior of my character. Yay attractive animated characters!

Now if we could just have same-sex flirting....

Overall agree with the assessment

December 30 2011
Note: The only other MMO I've played is STO, so everything I view is in its light. I'm also a huge fan of Trek as compared to Wars.

Overall review: HIGHLY RECOMMEND

Pros:
1.) Feels like one of those second-person pick-your-path novels, "You're standing at the entrance to the Haunted House. You hear a shriek emanating from the upstairs window. If you want to go upstairs, go to chapter 20. If you want to go to the tool shed and pick up a shovel to defend yourself, go to chapter 44." Yes, those novels were kind of cheesy, but I enjoyed them nonetheless. But to see it in a video game as the incarnation and visual representation of all these novels complete with voice acting and movie-type animation and thought to cinematography, it's frickin' bad-ass.
2.) Graphics are beautiful! I liked STO, but this blows it out of the water.
3.) It keeps true to the spirit of the Star Wars movies. Has similar type high moral and snarky characters that seem somewhat true to life, and it focuses on the characters. Despite liking the Trek universe overall better, Wars just has a cool factor Trek doesn't. It's more personal and a bit gritty. Trek seems to place more emphasis on "look at this really cool gadget that we totally made up within the realm of physics." Wars is all "hey, this is science FICTION so we do what we want; plus we're just conveying a story anyway so focus on the peeps, not the tech." You get involved with your character. You get involved with other characters and their stories. I will say that I have trouble making decisions sometimes, especially when the Light/Dark points come into play but you have this what-seems-like-a-real-person standing in front you. Do I do what's best/worst for them personally or hold true to my ideals?
4. Very few bugs. I've encountered a couple of minor, and I do mean minor ones. Nothing has prevented me from completing a mission or caused my character to die. The worst one I saw was when I tried to kill a squadron of people, they just wouldn't die. BUT, they kept regenerating in the middle of it so they'd also lose their target, i.e. me. So I got away scott-free (I'm not sure who Scott is, and how he gets away with it so much, but I'm glad he shared his luck with me this time.) This also was not in a major mission area. I was just gathering some stuff for my Archaeology crew skill/crafting. Again, very minor.
5. Very mature product. I was shocked by how robust the game is. STO was released, and by the time you changed ships for the first time and got your first promotion, you got in a rhythm and knew what to expect from then-on. This keeps you off-balance and changes intent, combat styles, etc. You can't beat all the bosses or enemies the same way.

Cons:
1. My biggest complaint is the server-based game architecture. STO did not have this, and YOU CANNOT SWITCH SERVERS. This is what hit me personally, so it likely won't be a big deal for most. But I have a Level 30 character on a different server that I had no idea when I signed up for that server that I couldn't migrate it. STO spoiled me here.
2. They could still optimize some of the respawn points and Medical Droids. Again, not a big deal and doesn't happen all that often. But a few times I've just thought "man, I've got to run all the way back there and all the way through those regenerated enemies again. Dang. And I've got to run to the Droid and heal first through all these other bad dudes. Aw." Doesn't happen much, and you shouldn't always be given a free pass back to where you were, but a couple of times have seemed more excessive than usual.

Squishy:
1.) Space missions. I personally find this a pro, but others might think this is a con. I like the fact that most of your missions are ground based. The ground missions are varied enough so you don't get bored with them easily. STO, yes, you need the space combat to feel varied for the most part. But when you do go into space, I like the fact that it's a completely different interface and feel. STO is a similar interface. Select your target, use the same buttons for similar type AOE, damage, buff, debuff, etc. Space combat in SWTOR is more like an arcade game -- on of those car/motorcycle racing games with a little bit of Mario Kart thrown in. Your ship is moving regardless of what you do. So you've got to steer it away from obstacles as well as hit some targets while you're doing this before they all hit you.

Overall, reiteration: FANTASTIC game, very mature, keeps my interest, more like reading a book than playing a game. I called my former college roommate (HUGE Star Wars geek who has read all the books, etc) and specifically recommended that he NOT get this game if he doesn't want to flunk out of getting his doctorate right now. It is highly addicting and really like immersing yourself in a different universe.

Conversely the other day I posted the question "So, I'm a little confused about the Emperor's role in the timeline" (being a level 10 Jedi Knight and he's been mentioned in a few quests so far) and someone immediately shouted in guildchat "NO SPOILERS!!!"

So... how does one go about asking a question without having everyone assume it's a spoiler, when I have no way of knowing if it's a spoiler or not?

I think people in guild chat have been very careful not to spoil things, and you could probably turn it back on if that's the only reason you have it off. No one's spoiled anything for me there. I think everyone is aware that there's a lot of surprising information in each story and we're all being very careful not to spoil anything.

I would agree with that if anything guild chat (atleast on the LoS side) has been more like inside conversations. Like Oooh! I really wasn't expecting how that ended. Someone then say's what? My Inquisitor quests. Then the other person says Oh the end of the chapter! OMG so good.

The conversation in general has been more of a OMG I need to get to the end to figure out what they are talking about lol.

I'd like to point out that our PG-13 policy started long before the launch of STO and was initiated originally for our IRC channel. It's a common misconception that it's solely to enforce the rules of Crytpic in StonewallFleet channel. I believe this is the thread you were referring to Colivia.

Instead, I firmly believe that we must have a certain level of decorum in all of the areas of our guild and our PG-13 Policy is the best middle of the road that we have. Another misconception is that our rules are stricter than they are. We generally are pretty lenient and err on the side of caution when moderating a member.

As Colivia said, we don't want our guild to descend into a no-holds bared state, but we still want people to be comfortable to speak there minds. As Kasper stated, you should still approach our public areas as you would in any public area. The internet often gives people a sense of anonymity and freedom that they can say whatever they want with no reprisal, but that's not the sort of environment that we want here. You wouldn't boast about your latest "conquest" in the middle of a crowded restaurant (actually, some probably would) so don't do it in guild chat. The same goes for our public rooms in vent, but we understand that people are more descriptive in teams or mission rooms.

One of the best bits of advice I can give is that if something is bothering you or offending you is to speak up either to the person causing you to feel uncomfortable or to an officer. Most of the time, people don't realize what they're saying is offensive or inappropriate.

As for the positives in all of this, I have to continually thank the officers of Knights of Stonewall. There assistance in running the guild, getting it started and running during launch and their continued support has been invaluable. The guild would not be where it is now if it was not thanks to the work of Zepari, Doogiegood, Halish, Aldente, and Dakon Kor. Thank you sooo much guys! As well, I'll give a shout out to all our "LTs" who have been helping by sending out invites. You're efforts are deeply appreciated and so important during this busy period of the guild.

I honestly belive all the posts here are good as it shows how much folks care about the guild and want it to be a safe place to come while playing SW:TOR.

Sometimes we need to discuss the stuff that may not be all warm and fuzzy. It maybe hard to read but needs to be posted and discussed.

Thank you to DakonKor for making the post. This is really something that should get out to the folks in the guild.

To end on a positive,,,,tomorrow is Friday and there is a long weekend waiting for us! Woot.

I assume those listed as LT's are officers?

Just an FYI: I just thought I'd point out that right now, on the Republic side, Lieutenant is the only membership level we have available for both officers who were added after Guild Deployment and for trusted folks who can help invite (appears to be the significant others of the officers for the most part at the moment).

This should be changing mid-week next week when the Guildmaster role is transferred to the one of the Republic's Officers and we start to introduce TOR's version of Fleet Captains.

Now that said...

Aldente pretty much summed up our expectations of our fellow Stonewallers: The Code of Conduct applies to any public communication, whether it is on the forums, in the general chatrooms on Vent (the specifically noted 18+ channels excluded), or in Guild or Chat Channel chat in either game.

This means that you should treat the channel as if it were rated PG-13 regardless of how the ESRB rates the game. Innuendo isn't a problem, as has been said, boys will be boys. That said, I was witness to some very explicit discussion and website referrals that were being transmitted via guild chat the other night that should have been reserved for a private tell.

Stonewall should be as comfortable place for teenagers looking to find an online group where they "belong" as it is for us adults to find friends with shared interests. It would be a real shame for a 14 or 15 year old struggling with their identity in real life, finding a respite online with the guild, to be banned from the guild by a parent because they saw explicit chat in the public guild channel.

I agree Van. An accidental slip isn't something we should be too worried about. I still remember having the HOLY CRAP moment as a Bounty Hunter but having no one to share my surprise with because I didn't want to ruin it for anyone else.

Only if there is repetitive and malicious intent to spoiling story lines should we need to address it. But at that point, it should be left to the Officers and Fleet Captain equivalents to deal with. We should have full guild control on Tuesday or Wednesday next week.

Okays need help with my smugglers quest in Tatoonie. The part where the Jedi Knight, Sith Warrior and other mob named D something is all meeting in the cave. I'm okay with everything up to the part where all the droids are killed but then when it's just me and the sith warrior I can't seem to progress. What the heck am I doing wrong?

I take Corso with me (wookie was no help at all) and I can get the sith wench down to 25% and then she just kills corso and me. My gear is okay for my lvl which is 28 and I have no problem until she's at 25% health. From there its all down hill.

It was suggested that I take Corso since he can harpoon her but that really didn't work so well as he seemed to die a lot quicker.

Any advice? (beyond giving up, lol) Maybe one more person for the extra dps but I really thought class stories could be solo'd.

Thanks guys!
