Re: Synthweaving reviews? worth it?

January 11 2012
First let me say my sythweaving is still relatively low, I'm at 60 or so. But I've had a lot of fun making items and rengineering. I was able to learn a few blue and epic patterns that I found to be better then any drop or vendor item. So for me it's been worth it and fun!

Hopefully some of the folks with a bit higher level in the craft will chime in.

Synthweaving reviews? worth it?

January 11 2012
trying to figure out if I want to go synthweaving instead of say, artifice on my consular (or maybe just gathering). Anyway, rumours say that at the max level, drops will be better than crafted items, etc. which makes crafting styles that make mods more valuable than gear.

What do you all think? Has synthweaving been fun and rewarding even if it won't be as much you at max level? etc.?

discuss.... :)

Also agree with Caleb below... in Stonewall, you're welcome to be yourself, gay or otherwise. The fleet is so strong and supportive that we do have straight members as well.

Joining the fleet added an entirely new dimension to STO for me. I've met some really amazing people that ordinarily, I never would have. What's especially cool is meeting folks from around the globe; most with many shared interests that again, you do not often find or have access to. I'm like the only guy that likes Star Trek where I live... but here, I know I'm amongst not only friends, but in a way, extended family.

Give it a try. You'll be glad that you did.

Well sug. I know that Stonewall would LOVE to have you. Its totally important to us (and by us im speaking 4 myslef, but i know everyone else agrees....or else :P ) that you are comfortable. Honestly the biggest goal for this fleet (4 me agian) is exactly for ppl that need a place to just be themselves.

I know when i lived with my rents i was completely in the closet, but if i would have know these great guyz-2 give me support, 2 listen, 4 advice...well these things are important.

If these things are what you are after then right here is where you will find them here. Plus we are pretty good at just being fun.

Take it from me Chris, I was scared of just approaching a Gay fleet even though i desperately wanted to be with people like me. Im glad i met these people.

The Catholic church has visited more horrors on humanity than any other religion. It's popular to hate the Islamic radicals these days, but the history of the Catholic church is far bloodier. Even today they turn a blind eye to the numerous pedophiles in their midst and then condemn homosexuality which harms nobody. It's twisted and insane. Pope Nosferatu and his corrupt organization have no place in a modern world.

Re: Leadership Team/Issues Resolution?

January 11 2012
Hi everyone,

Thank you for bringing up your concerns. I hope you can bear with us just a little longer. This past weekend we spent quite a bit of time discussing the guild reorganization. I hate to say it, but there may be another week or two of some growing pains due to the large active player base we have and the need to get things organized in a way that gives us room to grow and effectively manage such a large and active guild.

We do have capabilities for moderating disruptive players both in game, in Vent, and here on the forums. However, we do have specific guidelines we need to follow to make sure things are handled as fairly as is possible.

Because this post is getting longer than intended I am going to start with this:

If you run into any situation you feel is inappropriate, and that you believe the leadership team can handle (we can deal with guild chat, or Ventrilo, but have no control over communication channels managed by Taint, for example), don't hesitate to send me a Private message via this website. I get an email notification instantly of a new message. As long as I'm not in a meeting, or overwhelmingly busy, I should be able to discuss the situation at nearly any time via this method.

Also, if you are witnessing uncomfortable, or disruptive chat in game, whether directed directly at you, or at another player, take as many screenshots of the conversation as you can. We will ask you to share these with us so that we can discuss the situation with the appropriate parties if we were unable to witness the event(s) for ourselves. We will need some kind of evidence that the events occurred, and with TOR's systems, unless there is an Officer or Captain online to take screenshots themselves as things occur, there is little we can do but talk with "offender" and ask them for their side unless we have documented evidence.

I am one of two officers who will be focused on the Republic side. But due to the real world, I usually only get to put in somewhere between 1-3 hours actually in the game during the evenings on most evenings, and between 3-6 hours a day on the weekends.

That said, however, I monitor the forums (and therefore my private messages) throughout the day, nearly every day, so I am rarely no further than a Private Message away. My email is always with me, so even if I"m not actively in the forums, an email notification of a new Private Message will prompt me to check in and help where I can. So in summary, if you have any questions or concerns, don't ever hesitate to contact me via PM either via the website or in game. If I am not immediately available, I can at least get the ball rolling or see if another Officer is available to address the situation.

Re: Leadership Team/Issues Resolution?

Thanks for posting this Jedi as this has been on my mind for some time.

I understand that the guild is undergoing some restructuring. And I look forward to all the changes that are forthcoming.

I've also gotten private tells from folks who are frustrated with other guilds. And sadly I've had to put a couple guild members on ignore due to issues they cause within guild chat, I really don't like doing this but sometimes it's the only way to avoid additional problems. Seems that not every LGBT person is as thoughtful as we would hope.

One thing I think is a problem and would like to point out .........inviting anyone just because (fill in the blank). I know some folks think that having more guild members is the way to go but we should show some caution with invites.

Every nite I'm on (which has been every nite since release) I see in guild chat "omg so and so has a cool name invite them" and then bam that person gets invited to the guild. Or my all time favorite "this dude is so killer as a tank we just got to have him in the guild", I mean really you grp'd with someone once and you suddenly know they are a good fit for the guild? What I'm surprised about are those that can invite and how they just hit the /ginvite key at the slightest thought of someone who wants to join the guild.

Just because you have the ability to invite doesn't mean you should invite the person.

I understand that many folks will disagree with me and that is okays. I come from a more structured organized guild set up. Where I feel that taking some caution to inviting people to the guild is a good thing (along with other aspects of guild set up) .

I'm happy to help those who are organizing guild events or anyone who needs a hand with .

Re: Datacron Opinions

January 11 2012
For those of you guild mates on the fence about whether or not to hunt down the carefully hidden datacrons throughout the galaxy I have a few stats that may convince you to join the crusade.

Since I began hunting them down on the various worlds we explore during our stories I have gained quite a bit of additional stats, which are permanent. Currently I am caught up on the datacrons up to and including Hoth. Of those datacrons I have gained:

Aim - 18

Presence - 18

Willpower - 14

Strength - 22

Endurance - 18

Cunning - 22

Not to mention the 7 Matrix shards and all of the exp involved in getting them. I still have a few more to collect but these stats are nothing to dismiss. And from what I have researched there is a lot more Willpower to come in the ones I haven't found. If anyone needs help or jump coaching let me know and I will be happy to help.

In Zep's post about Captains, he mentioned that they would be replacing Lieutenants:

Quote by Zepari

Job Description:

  • Help with inviting new members and existing member's alt characters to the in-game guilds
  • Help members with their questions about the game, and keeping the chat channels friendly

As you can see, this role would not take a lot of your time and I know quite a few of you have already being doing this in the current "Lieutenant" rank (which is being replaced with the rank of Captain).

So, essentially it's a name change. I don't know why, it's always been beyond me to understand their thinking. :P

Anyways, Zep will be posting soon about actual officer positions. Hopefully sooner rather than later.

It's a shame SWTOR doesn't have the same out-of-game chat abilities that STO has. Having officers logged in all the time just isn't feasible :(

I don't understand how Republicans can sit there screaming for less government oversight of corporations year after year despite literally centuries of historical evidence showing the abuses by corporations, either against their workers, the environment or our financial system itself. Corporations have one purpose, to make money, and if they have to buy and sell people, they will; they've done it before. The little consumer, worker and personal protections that we have in this country were not thrown up over night because of some Democrat overreaction. Each and every law was created and approved as a response to a particular problem our country faced, but as time goes on and the original problem slips from the public's eye, Republicans swoop in to remove the protections under some guise that it's no longer necessary. As if, it is impossible for that problem to occur again.

This is basically the same reasoning I have when it comes to Universal Healthcare. I don't know why it's acceptable for private business to regulate or be involved with healthcare. For me it poses a really huge conflict of interest:

If your purpose is to make profits as a corporation, how can you provide services to those who are sick or dying without money?

The short answer is, you cannot. As the sole purpose of any corporation is the acquisition of wealth, resources and time dedicated to that end. For those who cannot provide that, aren't entitled to it.

Now, I have a problem with this. To me, medical treatment is a right, not a privledge. As is education and the emergency services (such as police, fire brigade) and to a lesser extent defence (Military, Navy etc).

I, as a Briton, am very happy with the fact its slightly different here, in that we have the NHS (National Health Service), which is universal healthcare or free-at-point of-entry healthcare, whichever terminology you prefer.

Sorry for going off topic, just while reading your point, I recalled how desperately republican pundits began attacking the British NHS in an attempt to undermine Obamas healthcare bill.

I recall they demonised it by calling it "socialist medicine", which while I'm not any American, would assume carries certain connotations (i.e Soviets, USSR, Evil Russia).

Or death councils or whatever, determining who deserves treatment and who can just die.

In a way, it was very LOL. Much like FAUX News. :cheer:

Sounds like an epic idea... some of us are new to the guild and/or just shy so a group event is also great for networking. We can meet and mingle with people our levels and bond together.

I personally tend to stick with people I quest together and keep in touch but I'm hesitant to contact people I've never met in game.

As mentioned here earlier tho, please make in game guild screen notes about this and occasional reminders for us absent minded members. :)

The Democrats shout from the rooftops about freedom of speech, social equality, the end of bullying, etc. Google "Santorum" and check the first result to see just how much they value their own stance about social tolerance. But even if we were to take them at face value about the social issues, they are all about advancing government control over fiscal matters: regulation, increased government programs, punitive taxation, and the list goes on.

Democrats believe in strong personal freedoms and strong regulation of business. Those are too separate tenants and one cannot be applied to the other. Despite what the Supreme Court might say, corporations aren't people and should be held to a different standard.

As if, it is impossible for that problem to occur again.

In the United States a slew of worker protections were started after the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire in which 146 people died due the factory managers locking the exists so workers could not leave. As well, it caused unions to start up across the country as workers banded together to bring attention to working conditions and safety concerns, which beforehand would've meant you were just fired and replaced. Now a days, safety protections and unions are under a constant assault into nonexistence. When I point to examples such as this and the laws that were enacted to prevent it from happening again during discussions about government oversight to my more conservative friends they say, "Of course, those protections are needed.", but for every single regulatory law there is an equally heinous tragedy that caused its existence.

Next week . . . my rant on why goverment programs are good.

I personally voted for my suggestion of the NicholasJohn Network. Not only does it not categorise us into any specific box but it also honours our founder and the hard work he has put into and continues to put into the community so that we can make friends and enjoy the games (and more) that we want to enjoy in a completely friendly environment.

I suggested one of those the "NicholasJohn Network" and I also explained the reasoning why.

You say you don't know Nick very well but if you did you'd know he'd never suggest using his name. He'd be too scared his ego is showing and he tries to keep that hidden at all times  :P

As for the current state of the guilds, I think we have to remember that we are less than a month into the life of a game that most people hope will last for years.

We're not exactly falling apart and the little problems we are having will be fixed. I assure you of that.
