Hopefully, I will be totally surprised when the time comes and find out it is all doable. Not looking good at this point though. :(

One of my annoyances about the speeder training cost is that where BioWare seemed to work very hard to minimize the 'grindy' nature of MMOs with the story and even with crafting. I found myself grinding the same space missions over and over to earn the credits needed for training and the Speeder.

I still say that if the Council or Republic Army, or Bounty Hunter Sponsor (not sure if this is how the BH gets a ship, but its where my brain took it logically) can afford to requisition you a ship around level 15, they should be able to throw a speeder in the cargo hold. Hell... I'd be happy if they'd issue you uniform of some kind so you at least look the part!

I wonder if my first companion is still wearing the ridiculous get-up I wound up wearing for over 10 levels until the mid-to-late 20s. I need to get a screenshot to show everyone.

My Jedi Consular is my highest character at lvl 36. I finished the Balmorra quests with him which entailed freeing the city of Sobrik from the Imperials. So it was weird for me when I later got my lvl 16 Sith Sorceress to Balmorra to find that Sobrik was still in the hands of the Empire. I suppose if I had been levelling them together this wouldn't have happened and the events would have been linear. Oh well, live and learn.

I sent emails to all 3 of my congressmen and the 2 republicans both sent back replies saying they were dropping support for the bills which surprised me due to the current partisanship. Actually it shocked me in a good way.

And this is exactly why I am resigning as Captain.

I know you cannot please everyone, but some folks just have way to high expectations and dealing with it as a Captain takes the enjoyment out of the game. That is me being polite.

I've played characters on both Republic and Empire sides and I've found both sides to be really friendly and communicative. I have, admittedly, been playing my Empire toons quite heavily since before the issues on the Republic side appeared so I haven't had a chance to see any impact on activity on that side.

I think it's important to say here - noone should ever feel unwelcome on either side. If you feel uncomfortable about something that is happening in chat, raise it with an Officer/Captain in private. If you can't for whatever reason (not comfortable about it/none online/etc.) then send Zepari (or any of the new officers) a message here on the forums. It'll be addressed.

I do feel sad that people have expressed that they feel unwelcome in LoS, that they wouldn't put their toons in the guild or that LoS should be avoided for whatever reason. I have found the people in LoS to be helpful and friendly whenever I'm online.

We're all here for the same reason - to play a game we love in an environment that is meant to provide a sense of community and ability to be oneself.

In response to the O/P, yes the past few nights have felt like a ghost town for me as well. I logged into my Orrion character, posted a greeting in the Stonewall channel and got no responses. I started playing and it was a good 15 minutes before I saw anybody else make a comment in either the KoS guild channel or Stonewall. I was on Quesh at the time, trying to solo and I ended up dieing. Doogiegood and a group of his new guildmates happened to show up right then and they res'ed me. I hate to say it, but I was tempted to jump ship right then and there. I really hope this lull in guild activity is a temporary thing, because it felt really lonely the other night and that's not the kind of guild experience I want to have.

As somebody else said, the LoS side of our guild is fairly active. I dusted off my Sorceress the other night and played her for a while. The one thing I did find disturbing were people from LoS badmouthing KoS. It felt really uncomfortable hearing negative things being said by our own people. I realize some people are die-hard Imperials and some are die-hard rebels, but some people enjoy both and shouldn't have to feel like an outsider when they visit the other side. Just my two cents.

This is pretty sad and I'm sorry you had to go thru this. :( This is one of many reasons I will not have my toons join LoS.

Come back to the light side,,,,at least it's quiet over here.

It's been really interesting to see how this issue transcends party lines in the U.S. I've seen articles from traditionally right-wing organizations that make the same case (and even use very similar language) as traditionally left-wing organizations.

Ahhh! That's got to be it. Yes I know that we each have at least one other channel we added before KoS.

Why aren't YOU working Tech Support at BioWare?!

Because then there would be nothing to talk about other than the story line lol.

Something else to keep an eye out for is that the Custom channels are, and to put it generously, buggy.

I know that both I and Zep need to /cjoin the channels repeatedly during play. According to Varel it doesn't actually log us out of the channel (e.g. a message says "Kor has left channel 'Stonewall'"), but the UI drops it from our chat windows, so we lose the ability to see it until we remember to /cjoin again.

I don't know if either of you are in more than stonewall/kos channels but I have heard this happening to people who are in 3 channels.

I don't think I've seen a story like this since the early days of Ultima Online and the Anti-PK (Player Killer) squads. Back then, "PVP" wasn't a separate option.

No MMO game has created a truly-open-world simulation like UO (fauna ecosystems, logical harvesting systems (e.g. You saw a tree, you could carve wood off of it) and originally, no limitation on stealing (you could literally rifle through other people's inventory if your skill was high enough, and steal just about anything if you're skill and stats were up to the challenge) or killing (the advent of Player-Killer guilds).

To fight the very real menace of being killed by highwaymen, Anti-PK guilds cropped up as, essentially vigilante/bounty hunters, constantly watching for unethical activities and dishing out justice for those who were unable to on their own.

It was equally frustrating and exhilarating. I still remember I was up late one night, and went to one of the inns to log out. Someone had forgotten to stay ON their horse when they logged, so here was a tamed horse just ready to give me it's loyalty since it's owner had vanished. For the price of a few apples, I had my first mount. None of this waiting 25 levels then dropping your life's savings to get one.

In every possible sense of the word, UO was a new frontier. There's a certain nostalgia and magic about those early days that probably will never again be seen in online MMOs.

Stories like yours (at least for me) seem to be very rare these days.

Kudos to you!

This might be happening with others. They joined the channel when we announced it last week, then never think to check again.

I've submitted several help desk tickets about this issue, so I'm hoping BioWare is taking note. I am absolutely stunned that I don't see many people with similar issues on the BioWare forums. Of course, it doesn't help that you can't search their forums directly.

I'd initially thought it had to do with "zoning" (any time the load window needs to come up), but have discovered it will just happen randomly. I suspect it still might be when I cross server lines within a map (something we as players aren't aware of in this modern age of MMO gaming), but have no way to prove or disprove that theory.

At any rate, if things seem unusually quiet, just double check that the KoS channel is still listed in your chat window. I hope the problem is focused on just a few of us, rather than being relatively widespread.

To be honest there are always people on when I play but their may be a couple reasons beyond the ones given in the precious responses. The most logical reasons would be that:

1. Although we are on a West coast server our guild members are all over the globe. I am on the East coast myself and the times you are on dont sync with mine due to my work schedule.

2. A month ago when the game began it was a holiday week. A lot of our fellow guildies had off from work and school to play more.

3. School is also back in session for our college level guildmates.

My advice would be to sign on to Vent and check the forums to see who is on when you are. I want all of my fellow Knights to have a good time playing, so if you are on the Republic side I can arrange to help you when I am free on nights and weekends.

I was actually thinking the same thing. I have a Jedi Shadow and the equivalent Imperial Sith Assassin. And yeah, there are definite correlations. I seem to get to the places later on my Sith. But the planets and their missions seem to be about the same level ranking though.

For example, my Jedi did a level 29 mission on Alderaan as a level 29. Later, my Sith did a similar and undoing level 29 mission on Alderaan, but he was a level 34. (Not exact, but approximate)

That's what it seems like to me, at least. I could be completely wrong about the comparable level rankings. I need to start paying more attention. Luckily my characters are at similar levels and places in their story so I can observe this more easily.
