Perhaps I just missed a spoiler or article somewhere, but isn't that the unknown ship crashed on LV-246 in the original (and second most awesome sic-fi horror movie of all time) "Alien" movie?

Re: Openly Gay Trek Character

I think what ColoradoMJ meant (BTW, hi from up Boulder way!) is that, in a culture that had fewer prohibitions and prejudices against alternate sexualities, more people would naturally be open about their own genetic tendencies or preferences for something other than mono-racial, mixed-gender pairings.

One need only look at some of our embarrassing and embarrassed political and religious leaders to see there are currently people who, in a more accepting society, might not have felt pressured into a traditional male-female marriage.

Dang, I just realized how pseudo-intellectual that all sounded. Sorry. Hope you understand what I was driving at. Cheers!

Weekly Event: Imperial Invasion

January 27 2012
Knights and Soldiers of Stonewall,

The time has come to learn all we can about the motivations of our enemy. We are going to accomplish this goal by becoming one of them!

Two nights a week (currently Thursday and Sunday) we would like to encourage any players whose primary character(s) are in the Republic to take an opportunity to roll up, or dust off, an Imperial alt in our weekly hhttp://knightsofstonewall.com/events/viewevent/176-weekly-event-imperial-invasion event..

By encouraging KoS/SoS members to log into LoS from time to time, we hope to help build guild interaction across the divide, and help bolster the number of active players online in the Lords of Stonewall to help make it easy to put together groups for simple adventuring, Heroics or experiencing the Imperial Flashpoints.

Participation is purely voluntary and you are free to log in for as long or as little as you like. But if you've had any desire to start exploring the Imperial storylines, this can be as good an excuse as any to take a little time away from your Republic primary characters.

Calling all Imp's! (PvE Empire Info)

January 26 2012
Hey all, thanks for taking the time to read this! So what is this thread about? Well it's about you! As the PvE Officer for the Empire my role is to plan PvE events for the Empire side. So what does PvE actually cover? Pretty much anything that doesn't involve killing another player. This could be things like...

  • Datacron Runs
  • World Bosses
  • Heroics
  • Questing
  • Flash Points
  • and more...

So what I need to know is what you all would like to see planned? What kind of events interest you? What days do you think they'd be the best? Pretty much anything you have to offer as these events are for you and I want everyone to see things they know they will enjoy.

Also anyone who would be willing to lead certain events please feel free to post as the more of us that are leading the events the more we will be able to provide as variety.

I look forward to your ideas and having some fun!

Yeah, that would be cool. Seriously, though, if they create a gay character, it would have to be a Bridge Officer (or Engineer, or otherwise main character.) I could see a gay captain, but I could also see a gay counselor, engineer, tactical officer, etc. As long as the character is three-dimentional, I'd be at least mostly happy. However, I think that if the Star Trek Universe were real, more people would be bisexual or pansexual than 20th Century gay-straight dynamics. In fact, I think sleeping with a member of an entirely different species would be seen as more kinky than just someone of the same gender.

Hmmm, I don't think there would be more bi/pansexual people. Just more people comfortable with their own sexuality. Just as it is now, there are people who just prefer the opposite sex. The only difference that would occur is that people won't get weirded out if they are hit on someone of the same sex.

What I have always found interesting that they were okay with promoting interspecies relationships (Worf/Troi, Worf/Dax, Rom/Leeta, Dax/Bashir), but when they did the whole lesbian kiss on DS9 it was a huge deal and shocking. Lol, you would think that people who think that marraige is only to produce children that they would have an issue with Worf and Dax getting married since they could not have children without advanced technology.

Re: Openly Gay Trek Character

My ideal lineup: a Pansexual joined Trill Captain (actually, for how they had to play her on network TV, Jadzia Dax was a pansexual in many ways - remember Captain Boday(sp?) - with the transparent cranium?), a straight or bi female first officer, and a very strong science/ops second officer who's just a little shy and keeps getting caught staring at the Captain's spots! Not that I have a thing for Trill Spots. Why were there never any really hot male Trill in the series? Really? I want to see how far those spots go down!

Kor,

You can count me in for Datacron Tuesdays. I would be happy to be a guide for these nights.

I have posted this before but there are 67 Datacrons throughout the galaxay and they collectively give players +40 to all of their stats. As well as mats to make endgame level relics to boost your stats even higher called matrix cubes.

Event Volunteers Needed

January 26 2012
To my fellow Stonewallers:

If you haven't already seen it, I've posted the first of several weekly events I have planned for the Knights and Soldiers of Stonewall.

I want to develop and maintain a highly active (and predictable) events schedule so that there are activities constantly going on to encourage the guild to come together on a regular basis.

However, I am only one person with only so much free time, and a desire to actually level up my character(s) from time to time. As such, I am seeking volunteers to help serve as guides and leaders to help promote and run these events. Below is a list of the activities that require some form of leadership or guide.

Datacron Tuesdays

Summary: Each week we will visit one or two planets in two separate tiers, in order to obtain all of the Holocrons. We will rotate through the list of planets in a way that will allow us to cycle around to any given planet every 6 weeks.

Volunteers Needed as Guides: The only requirements are patience with other players and the ability to find and follow a guide for obtaining datacrons. It would be great if you have prior experience picking up the datacrons on a planet to help explain and demonstrate tricky jumps, but given how tricky some of these can be, all participants are going to need patience (even with the Guides).

Humpday Heroics

Summary: Similar to Datacron Tuesdays, every Wednesday night we will pick one or two planets (depending on the total number of Heroics) in 2 different tiers, and organize teams to run all of the Heroics on that planet. With enough participants, and someone with a knack for tactics, we can even attempt to take on the World Bosses during our visit.

Volunteer(s) needed as a a Leader: It would be nice to have one person to help organize participants into balanced teams. If there are enough participants, it would be great to find someone good with tactics to lead a battle against the World Bosses during the visit.

Flashpoint Fridays

Summary: Every Friday we will form teams to run one, two, or three Flashpoints (depending on length) and cycle through the list similar to how we are going to handle the planets for the Datacrons and Heroics so that if you miss a day, or missed a specific Flashpoint, you'll get a chance in a few weeks to join their fellow Stonewallers on the next go-round.

Volunteer(s) needed as Organizer(s): This would simply be announcing in the KoS chat channel that we were forming teams, then help organize participants into balanced teams able to tackle the given Flashpoint.

Let me know if you have any interest in helping run and organize these events.

That's awesome! Thanks Dakon!

My schedule for the next two weeks will prevent me from playing much (travel for work; I'll actually be in GMT all next week instead of my usual PST). But once I'm back (and de-jet-lagged) I'm definitely IN for this! I'm in Balmorra now, but need to catch up on some of the lower-level datacrons anyway.

Cheers!

I would like to join but want to make sure I have the thought process right. This is for fun and not a hardcore team right?

If this is just for fun and the adventure of pvp with guildmates I'm all for it.

If this is a hardcore team and we are expected to perfect and never make mistakes then I'll have to pass as I've stated earlier I'm horrid at pvp and don't want to hold the grp back.

yes van, its just for fun, im not much for making people achieve perfection, im sooooo not hardcore!

Weekly Event: Datacron Tuesdays

January 26 2012
Hello Stonewall!

I am excited to announce our first officially organized event. On Tuesday nights each week, we will be forming two separate hunting parties to try and tackle all of those Datacrons scattered around the Galaxy.

Current Week's Planets:
  • Low Tier - Ord Mantell & Tython
  • High Tier - Balmorra

Please be sure to keep your eye on our Events Page to find out which planets we will be focusing on for the current week.

I have organized a total of 4 events: 2 Tiers in 2 Time Zones (EST/PST evening & GMT evening).

The current plan is to break the hunting party into High and Low Tiers. This allows us to break down the schedule into 6 planetary visits, allowing us to cycle through all of the planets every six weeks.

Low Tiers:
Ord Mantell & Tython
Coruscant
Taris
Nar Shadaa
Tatooine
Alderaan

High Tiers:
Balmorra
Hoth
Quesh & Voss
Balsavis
Corellia
Ilum & Fleet

I intend to lead the EST Low-Tier Party next week. I am currently seeking volunteers for the EST High-Tier Party, and both GMT Parties.

Please note: We are in need of volunteers who help serve as guides for each of the hunting parties. Experience obtaining these Datacrons would be great, but all that is really required is the ability to follow a guide and patience for helping folks who may find some of the jumps tricky. Please let me know here, or via a PM if you would like to volunteer as a guide.

I hope to build a large enough stable of volunteers so no one feels pressured to attend every week. Even better, having multiple guides will allow us to station someone at multiple points in the process to help with the trickiest parts.

I'm actually not a huge fan for light or dark as no one is perfect and the moral choices are different for all. I felt personally on the characters where I went 100% either way that it in a way ruined it due to even though you are offered choices the mindset of I'm either Dark or Light removes the other options.

What I have been doing since this discovery is choosing based on the situation and what I felt my character or myself would do in the situation if faced with it. Doing this has some upsides and some downsides.

Upsides:
  • The longer you stay neutral you have access to every crystal in game.
  • Companions tend to love what you do because even the light ones sometimes prefer the dark choices due to the decision you made.
  • Your character isn't stuck in a mold and you tend to get different reactions.
  • Sometimes even your character responses will surprise you.
  • It is fun to see where it naturally takes your character.

Downsides:
  • Gear becomes harder to find but is still obtainable. (even though I couldn't use vendored light sabers I got green ones to update from quests frequently enough)
  • If you have issues with choices it can sometimes stump you on what to do.

Some excellent points. I may actually roll another toon on republic side (empire side are brand new so this should be interesting to test out) and try this process out as I was making choices basied on light and not taking into consideration my feelings, which sometimes wanted the dark side choices. Something to think about with my future characters and my new Empire characters.

Thanks!

We are still working hard to get the events planned. It is taking a bit longer as the new officers settle into their roles and we are also trying to make sure that we provide a good balance of fun and exciting events for both the Republic and Imperial side.

As soon as we have any information of the upcoming events we will make sure to post them to allow members time to see them. Until then I still encourage anyone with any ideas/request/suggestions to post as we love to hear what people want!
