but I cannot for the life of me find where I can change my forum sig. I can find the profile editing page but don't see the sig field anywhere.

I finally managed to track it down based on Nick's description yesterday.

On top of the site knightsofstonewall.com (it works differently if you use the stonewall fleet site) there is a tab 'profile', that is not the profile you want. You need to click on 'forums'. When you're on the forum there is a second tab bar (Index, Recent Topics, No Replies, My Topics, Profile, Rules, Help, Search). This forum tab bar contains the tab 'profile' you need to click on. Then there is a blue bar with in my case the text 'Profile for nic (nniicc)'. In that bar, on the right side, there is a button 'edit' on which you need to click. This link should take you there immediately. On the right of your picture there are three tabs (user account, profile information, forum settings). Click on 'profile information'. Scroll down. The last field is called 'signature'. That is the one you are looking for.

Does anyone know how to add html to the signature? CJUK, how did you add that picture?

Click the link below:

Then click Edit on the blue bar. Then click the Profile Information tab and you will find the signature field at the bottom.

Hope this makes sense.

help.... sig

February 05 2012
I'm not computer illiterate at all (I'm a software developer lol) but I cannot for the life of me find where I can change my forum sig. I can find the profile editing page but don't see the sig field anywhere. Could it be a privilege thing? or am I just completely not seeing what is right in front of my face. Help please. (I tried both from the kos and fleet sites).

Cantina Crafters meeting for February 4th, 2012

February 05 2012
I am pleased to present a brief synopsis of the first crafting meeting held today. Overall, there were a lot of great ideas and seemed to be highly productive. People were able to get help in getting their crafting questions answered and compare notes on what they had discovered in-game. Aside from all the crafting tips, here is a list of the major topics discussed:

Crafting group name

After a rather short brainstorming session, the name of "Cantina Crafters" was proposed and agreed on to be the name of our crafting group. Thus, we shall officially be known as the Cantina Crafters of Stonewall.

Crafting guide

There are numerous guides and articles on various websites all over the Internet in regards to SWTOR crafting, some quite good. However, any changes made by Bioware will make those articles more or less outdated and obsolete. Thus, we will begin collaborating on an "in-house" crafting guide for the entire guild to benefit from. A basic outline for the guide has been started and will be expanded upon as more information can be documented.

Skills Tracking thread

Now that a crafting group has been formed, we discussed the relevance of continuing updating the skill tracker thread on the site forums. Mention was made of the benefit of being able to determine who is working on a particular profession in order to discuss tips and ideas with those individuals. The thread will continue to be updated as people add their professions.

Guild banks

From all sources, Bioware intends to implement guild banks with the next major update which will apparently be sometime in March. The group discussed how crafting mats would be handled once guild banks are implemented. Most liked the idea of creating an alt crafting guild for the purpose of having a separate guild bank dedicated to stored crafting materials. However, this would pose an issue for individuals with one toon not having access to both the guild's main guild bank and the crafting material guild bank. The topic was essentially tabled until much more information could be obtained regarding how guild banks will actually function.

Crafting store

At some point in the distant future, we may be resourceful and organized enough to offer an item store within SWTOR. This essentially would exist to allow non-members to order items in order for us to raise funds for needed guild functions.

Future meetings

The general consensus was that a meeting once a month from one to two hours should be sufficient. If any issues needed to be discussed before the next meeting, we could utilize the website for communication. In an effort to provide a good time and day for the most amount of people, general consensus was reached to have the next crafting meeting on March 3rd, 2012 at 12pm PST, 3pm EST, 8pm GMT.

If I have forgotten anything or if anyone has any feedback or input, by all means, please feel free to reply.

Re: A Quick PVP Guide

February 05 2012
PVP in general

There are distinct roles in PVE--tank, healer and dps. PVP traditionally tends to focus mostly on rewarding the dps role but Bioware has actually done a good job of rewarding players of all roles for their contributions in pvp. In each game, you are awarded medals for accomplishing certian feats so people can get medal for dps, killing blows, number of enemy killed, large heals, total amount healed, damage prevented, defending turrets, completing game objectives, etc.

You get extra warzone commendations for each medal you get so everyone, regardless of their role can gain similar rewards for fulfilling your role.

DPS is pretty familiar to everyone so I won't spend time on it. In terms of healing, you get medals for the size of a single heal as well as for the amount you heal during the course of the game. So you could get a medal for a 2.5k heal as well as for healing for 75k. Tanks get medals for preventing damage. They prevent damage in two ways--bubbling someone with their guard and using their taunts. Taunts reduce the enemy's damage by 30% against all allies but you. Thus you are preventing damage and as such, get protection points--so use your taunts freely and often.

A Quick PVP Guide

February 05 2012
I have been PVPing quite a bit and after giving the guild pvp event a go last night, I thought I might offer a quick guide to PVP based on my experience. I am not the end all be all knowledge holder but can offer enough to help folks get started.

First, there are three different warzones that you randomly enter when you queue for pvp. Here is a brief run down along with some helpful hints to make it a little less confusing.

Huttball

Huttball is kind of like football in that your team is trying to run the ball to the other endzone while the other team is trying to kill you and vice versus. The important aspect of this game is passing the ball as you can pass the ball and cover more distance faster than you can running with 5 or 6 enemy beating on you. So pass pass pass...you will find the pass skill in your general abilities tab so be sure to put it on your UI so its ready for use. Also, in order to pass, you need a target so if you don't have the ball, run a little bit a head so the ball carrier has a target to throw the ball to. Huttball is one of those games where stunning and CC is more important than killing if you want to win because the other team respawns in their endzone and will be there in mass to great the ball carrier.

If you are a Knight or Warrior--you can travel large distances as a ball carrier simply by force leaping to enemies or interceding to friendly targets. Inquisitors and Consulars can pull ball carriers to safety with their rescue ability. Bounty Hunters, Troopers, Smugglers and Agents have some of the best CC abilities in the game.

Alderaan

This game is where you essentially try to capture two of the three turrets (I say 2 because you need at least 2 to win) and then defend them from the enemy while the turrets shoot down the enemy ship. Each team has one turret (right or left) that is easily accessible and then tend to fight over the middle. A few hints in this game include: never leave a turret undefended. Even if you are the only one there, you can announce in OPs chat that the enemy is incoming and people will come to help. The main objective in defending a turret is not to kill the enemy but to keep them from capping the turret so use dots and aoes and stuns around the turret as much as possible. The most important thing is fight near the turrets. The enemy likes to try to draw you away and while you are fighting, a stealther will slip in behind and cap the turret. The other important thing is to call out incoming enemy with your location (i.e. inc left or inc middle or inc right). Be sure to call out the all clear as well so people know its safe to go help at another location.

For Voidstar--I'm still working this one out. There are two rounds--defender and attacker. As an attacker, bBasically, you are trying to get to the datacore and have to go through three zones to do so. Each zone is locked behind two big doors that you need to plant bombs on. You only need to plant a bomb on one door but the bomb has a 20 second delay so you have to guard it so that it is not disarmed. Dots, aoes and stuns interrupt the disarming processes. As the door pops, move to the next zone.

When defending, you need to be aware that there are two doors that need guarding so like Alderaan, never leave a door unattended and call out incomings if you are alone. Dot, aoe and stun those near the door so they can't plant the bomb.

You will play two rounds--one as an attacker and one as a defender.

I play a sage and a juggarnaut in pvp so as I figure things out and have some helpful hints for those classes, I will post here and I encourage people who have figured out pvp on their classes to also post helpful hints and suggestions for playing the different classes in the different warzones as they do seem to need different strategies for the different warzones as well as some different strategies for the different roles.

Congrats to the officers.

Want to make sure there is a clarafication on the KoS. There are only 417 Characters in KoS. Most of those are just alts.

115 of those characters have not yet registered on the forums even thou the officers and captains have been asking folks too.

EPISODE 5: Ninja Nerf Kills Grouping?

Tristin, Angel, and Dustin are joined this week by Kris to discuss the game and give away two free months of game time. The gang countdowns the top news of the week. Topics include the Friday night downtime, performance updates, developer play schedule, same sex relationships in game, the first guild summit in Austin, and subscriber numbers. Next up a great idea is discussed to fix the horrible Ninja Nerf to grouping that came out last week. You know that one which makes playing with friends or helping out lower level guild members impossible. After that we discuss why skipping planets is not the best idea overall.

Lots of emails flooded our box this last week and we respond to a few of them on the show. Can I just ask, why all the hate? Today we announce the winner of 2 free months of game play time. Tristin butchers the name of the winner but the prize is on the way to it’s way as we speak. Listen to find out if you won, and return next week for details on our next giveaway.

Knights of Stonewall Update - February 2012

February 04 2012
Wow, it's February already. As promised here is this month's brief update on the State of the Guild as of today the 4th of February, 2012.

Officers
I'd like to announce that Justjon has moved from the post of Empire PvE Officer to the role of Membership Officer. His responsibilities now include keeping the in-game and website rosters up to date, ensuring that we know who everyone in-game is by ensuring we all have our username in our member notes and making sure that everyone is at the right rank. I'd like to thank Jon for volunteering to take on this time-consuming, never-ending and thankless task, lol.

We currently have 2 available officer positions, Ambassador and Empire PvE Officer. The descriptions of these roles and information on how to apply are currently posted in the Council Chamber forum.

Guild Wide Meeting
As you should already know, we will be holding our first guild wide meeting today in the IRC channel. Saturday the 4th of February at 12 noon PST, 3pm EST, 8pm GMT. The meeting should take no more than an hour and will take place on our IRC chat channel to ensure anyone, even those without Ventrilo, can attend. You can access the IRC chat simply by clicking "Chatroom" in the menu at the top on the page, or if you would like to use your own IRC client you can find our channel details here. The meeting will be informal and the officers will be there to answer all your questions.

Crafting Meeting
KiddKasper has arranged a meeting for all members who are interesting learning more about SW:TOR's crafting system this Saturday, February 4th, 2012 at 9pm GMT (4pm EST, 3pm CST, 2pm MST, 1pm PST). This will be right after the guild wide meeting. All the information on this meeting can be found in Kaspers thread here.

Events
The officers are currently working on finding out what kind of PvE events and in-game social gathering everybody would like to see. The Republic and Empire PvE Officers will be working together to ensure that players on both sides are catered for equally. Johnspiff has already begun as PvP Sign Up thread, so if you would like to get involved in PvP, check it out.

I'd also like to address a common misconception that we have encountered before. The officers are not responsible for running every guild event. We have 486 members in KoS and everyone is more than welcome to create and run any event they choose. We have an Events section on the website that anyone can use to promote their event. The officers are here to ensure that we have events and to help get everyone involved. They are also here to help promote all events, and are always available to give advice on how to use our facilities to get an event going.

Republic guilds
Soldiers of Stonewall has grown beyond expectations and I'd like to thank everyone for helping us by moving their Trooper and Smuggler characters to the correct guild. There are still a lot of these characters in Knights of Stonewall. I'd just like to remind everyone that it is in their own interest to be in the correct guild as we will be attempting to maximise space in the guild banks when they arrive by keeping class specific items in the correct bank. If you would like to switch your character to Soldiers of Stonewall, just ask in the KoS channel for an invite.

PG13 Policy
We have a PG13 policy in all the public areas of the website and in our in-game chat channel. This matches Bioware's "ESRB Rating TEEN". For any of our newer members I'd just like to remind everyone why it exists and that it is not designed to hinder communication, but to encourage it. This policy is not because we are pandering to a minority of members, it is simply there because we don't all want to listen to one or two people talking explicitly about themselves and others. We have provided 18+ channels in Ventrilo along with private rooms, and the game has a private whisper and group party chat function. So we are not stopping anyone from talking about what they want. We just ask everyone to remember that the public rooms are public and so we all have to feel comfortable joining in the conversation.

Finally, I'd like to thank everyone for their ongoing support for the Stonewall community and particularly for Knights of Stonewall. I want to thank all the Captains for doing such a great job in-game keeping on top of all the invite and information requests. I'd also like to thank the officers for giving up (what has recently been far too much of) their free time to keep this guild working so well.

Thank you all!
