Yeah, I just downloaded lastpass. Still looking it over but I think the generated passwords will help a lot.

I use Lastpass free version on my pc and have been very happy with it. I don't have a smartphone so I can't say anything about that capability but if it goes along with the free version's capabilities (which I am sure it probably does) it should work well too.

I would recommend anyone get an authenticator if one is available for the game they play to protect their accounts from being hacked. While nothing is an absolute guarantee, it's another hoop would-be hackers have to jump through and most won't even try when they discover it's required. They'll just move on to easier prey which unfortunately many people have become.

Good questions QiqJoe! As I have had to add the majority of characters to the website roster as the guild rosters were updated I feel I can answer those questions. I can perform a search for character names and as long as they have already been added I will be able to find out the owner's forum name and quickly update that for anyone that may forget. Anytime you leave a guild and join another your information will have to be re-added to whatever database that guild uses even if that new guild is within the same organization. I will also have to go into each character's record and change the name of the guild they belong to but again that is not a problem in the least. ;) After the initial information changes that are required, it will be easier for me to make sure the roster information is up to date because I will no longer have to logout of one toon and into another toon in each respective guild to update information. Sometimes that can take a fairly extended amount of time depending on what else is going on with the server and I usually warn anyone I am dealing with that if it takes 2-3 minutes for me to "reappear" please don't worry. I haven't left or forgotten them....

After clearing the rosters of unregistered and/or inactive toons, we will currently have a much larger buffer before we will again hit the member limit set by the game. Originally, that wasn't the case and was what forced the drastic step of splitting the guild without giving the officers time to get member input. I also fervently hope that Bioware will figure out what a mistake they made by setting that limit at 500 to begin with and causing untold grief for all the large guilds in the game. Maybe this will be a "surprise" change as it hasn't been mentioned anywhere in their discussions of future updates. :( We can only hope....for a lot of things... :S

Thanks again for all your excellent and pertinent questions! :cheer:

Re: Fave novels? I'd love some recommendations!

My favorite author and I say this loosely is anything by Heinlein though his 50's/60's stuff is a bit superficial today with our technology but hey... so was the orginal star trek ... heinlein's later works like "Friday" I adore, written when he was like 80 or so; and was one of my coming out books I think ... and then anything with lazarrus long (the books are endless, ... "time enough for love", "the cat who walks through walls" so many to name) .. starship troopers the movie was nothing like the book, nor was puppet masters but some of his works. While I love "Friday" .. "I Will Fear No Evil" may be my favorite book by him also written much later in his life which will have gay and lesbian themes in it and done well I think for a writer of his generation . my copy is dog-eared and missing pages .. I need to get a kindle version of it if available lol.

For lesbian literature Chris Anne Wolfe rocks though she died very young but has a few books out there. Have not read her "Death Sweet Suitor Mine" she wrote as she died its too final for me but anythig else I give a thumbs up to .. Annabelle and I, Bitter Thorns (beauty and the beast retold) - huge thumbs up on that one, then the aggar books think 2 of each.

Jane Fletcher for also lesbian literature rocks in her warriors at think its westernfront series up to 4 books now. She has a more magical series as well like someting and the chalice think 3-4 books, but the warriors one I liked better lol!

I just got done reading "When women were warriors" books 1-3 on kindle) and it was a good read so another to think about though female in sexual content.

Anyway some more ideas for folks depending on what they want but don't discount a lesbian read if you are a guy or vice versa ... Robin Hobb has alot of innuedo in some of the prolly 12, 500+ page books she has done without being explicit especially "the fool's" character in the first series she wrote. its not really gay lit, but ... I felt some things when reading her stuff, and didnt want to put the book down I thnk I am 3 of her novels behind.

Oh and lets not forget "Hunger Games' by Suzanne Collins which is a movie now .. there are 3 books and while not 'gay' in nature ... I love that it has a female protagoist through all 3 books. Not sure how this first person writiting will come across on big screne but i do plan to go see the first movie since I have now read all 3 books.

(edit "I will fear no evil" is on kindle and I just bought it so no more dog eared missing paged copy woohoo, off to read it again for the umpteenth time!)

I second the re-merge! It would be nice to see the Troopers and Smugglers who are online and the planets they are on.

Question for you, Zepari or other guild leadership. Is it feasible to merge everyone? Obviously it is since we're talking about it, but will it cause any sort of strain in doing so? Will we be flirting with the member limit? Will we have to re-enter our member note (not major, but people would easily forget)?

Why your sw:tor eyes change color

March 27 2012
I had been thinking this was an in game bug and it ticked me off, I picked a certain eye color for my toon then suddenly they kept getting 'golden eyes'. Thanks to someone in vent today, I see it is a factor in show sith corruption .. this is an option under social and check it to be turned off so your eyes don't change color!.

I hope this helps others!

Wish I had read this yesterday. I logged on to STO to find that my account had been hacked. All of my gear and EC are gone from my main ships. Waiting to hear back from Cryptic to see what can be done. All I can do now is change all my passwords (including my e-mail just in case).

Arg this makes me so mad. I really hope karma comes back and bites the ones responsible.

Soldiers of Stonewall?

March 27 2012
Hi everybody,

I would like to let you all know that we have finally found a down-side to having two Republic guilds and so, as promised, I am opening up this issue again to get the opinion of everyone.

It seems that the guild banks which are coming in the next week or so (with the 1.2 update) are going to be expensive. Our Resources Officer, KiddKasper, has done some research on the test server and it looks like the first bank tab will cost us 600,000 credits and the price will increase with each subsequent tab. This would be expensive for us as we need to treat all three in-game guilds equally and open up bank tabs at the same time in each guild.

The reason we had to create the Soldiers of Stonewall guild so quickly without a chance to get everyone's input was because we had only 15 character spaces in Knights of Stonewall. We have now begun to remove "unknown" characters (those who have not put their username in their member note) and we are planning to start removing any character which has been inactive for more that 60 days. This will decrease the number of characters in the guilds and remove the urgent need for more space, also the ongoing 60 day inactivity limit will hopefully keep the number of characters in-game below the 500 limit for the forseeable future. We couldn't do this before as we hit the limit within the first month and all the characters were "active".

Contrary to what some people think, we have only lost a small number of members from the guild since launch and the real reason for our inactivity is that our current members are taking a break from the game or have decided not to play anymore. However they have mostly decided to stick with our community and still play with us in other games. We have also never put much effort into actively recruiting outside our website and the SW:TOR site as we did not want to look like we were poaching from other guilds (although I think we were the first one formed in the GLBT community). We will begin active recruitment to ensure that we can keep the guild as active as possible from now on, and we just hope that we are not too successful as we were before, lol.

Therefore, I will get to the point... We would like to re-merge the Soldiers of Stonewall guild's characters into the original Knights of Stonewall guild on the Republic side of the game. As well as allowing us to focus on fully paying for the guild banks in KoS and LoS, we hope that the ability for members to use the in-built "guild" chat function will solve some of the socialising issues (expecially the bugs that randomly kick people from the Kos channel).

What do you all think?

Quote by QiqJoe
I can see this in some circumstances, but I know it also serves a useful purpose in others. For example, a credit check is step 1 of obtaining a government (DOD/DOE) security clearance. The reasoning behind this is that foreign or nefarious entities could use this as a leveraging tool against you to acquire top secret information. "Bad credit? Hey, we'll give you LOTS of money if you give us this measly bit of information." I would imagine it would be a similar case with any other company with proprietary secrets (i.e. the recipe for Coca-Cola). Even then, though, that's why they have a full investigation process to your background and take many things into account before approving or denying. I've known of people who had bad (maybe not awful, but certainly not stellar either) credit to get their clearance. I would hope that companies that do the same thing would at least have a reason for running a credit check and having enough checks and balances in place to reasonably deny an otherwise qualified person employment.

That's along the same lines that bared gay people from working for the US Government for decades, ie if people found out they were gay, they could easily be blackmailed into giving up secret information. (See: The Pink Scare) If people are going to be a security risk, then that's the sort of thing that should show up in background checks and personality screenings.

Why would a company even take a chance on someone with bad credit? They have no obligation to be nice and give the person a job anyway. They can just turn down the applicant and move the the next candidate, specially in an economy like this.
