An official answer would be nice, someone suggested I call but I don't have enough minutes on my phone for that.

My Google-Fu may be weak, but I can not find anything suggesting one way or the other. Any googling about both gold and silver accounts seems to call up the Matrix comparing them, but nothing more of import.

STO/PWE would be very odd if they really did cause hassle over having more then one account. I think the only issue would be using secondary/alt accounts to bypass bans for try to break EULA.

Others like EVE Online have no such issues and are happy for you to have as many accounts as you like. Even if many of them only get paid for with in game PLEX and not actual money. Ultimately an alt account is a chance at upping the player counts.

I am happy to petition it for an answer if others have not already?

That's not how STO is structured.

I thought I had read a rule against it when things were about to go F2P. Is there anyone out there with better Google mastery than myself who can confirm or deny? Thanks

Re: Are you allowed to have both Gold and Silver accts

I don't *think* there's any rules against have two accounts. I doubt Cryptic would care as the silver account is limited as it is and might give you a reason to spend some coin in the Z-store. :P

Are you allowed to have both Gold and Silver accts

July 26 2012
Google has not been helpful to me in trying to find this out. I am eager to get back in game. I do not want to convert my Gold account to Silver, because I would lose a lot of BOs in the process, and since you can't convert from Gold to Silver back to Gold, I would lose all that work and the fact that I create my BOs for story purposes. Is it legal for me to start a Silver account, and then also play my Gold account once I have the money? I'm not talking about a workaround, I'm talking about what is within the PWE TOS.

Thanks

Re: Crystal Desert- Unofficial Latin Server?

July 25 2012
Thrumdi is right. If "Eternal Grove" returns to the server list before launch then that'll be our home but if not I'm nearly sure we'll stay on Crystal Desert.

To be honest we can probably pick fault with any of the servers. WvW is a major part of the game and there's always going to be some guilds on every server who try to control it. Our enemy server would change every 2 weeks so even if we get dominated by certain WvW centric servers it won't be always and being able to give as good as we get would probably a good thing.

Certainly it's going to require a lot of guilds all working together and I'm sure most of them won't be hardcore.

Whatever happens it'll be fine, I'm sure.

As for the original topic, I can't imagine the server will be dominated be Spanish speakers, certainly it wasn't during beta.

I think seeing as it plays against top servers such as FA, but isn't necessarily, say, top 3, it should be a fairly well balanced server. I'm also not too fond of the LGBT guilds all being on one server, i think immersion would be better for all of them :) just my opinion though.

Crystal Desert- Unofficial Latin Server?

July 25 2012
I was reading up on GW2 when i found this reddit post that was very helpful

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1u3QpOmEhLOzjhyxrI5Ulf8rDz_INGgvyqHECiA2yXks/edit?pli=1

IT looks like Crystal Desert is a very filled server, just the right amount! However, it also appears to be the unofficial latin server with the brazilian alliance...do you think that will pose any annoyances when it comes to a multitude of spanish over English? Or am i just overreacting because i have nothing better to do? Thoughts?

Re: Goons looking to grief and steal far more.

July 25 2012
I had thought that PWE had rules forbidding users to have both a Gold and Silver account, that's why I haven't done it. The main reason that I want to get in the game to begin with has nothing to do with the game. I miss being able to talk with my fleetmates in real time. So, I guess, really, I'm wanting to spend $15/mo for a chatroom. :(

Yeah. Dont let them spoil your idea of fun, especially when they are easy to avoid for the most part.

I seem to recall many people saying that if you were Gold and convert to Silver that you keep all you had as Gold and it would just be new chars that become restrained by Silver levels now?

As to reasons to give it another go. If you are not too sure why not create an alt account as Silver. Create a basic Fed and see how the fleet is now. And if you enjoy how Stonewall is now then think about renewing your Gold properly?

Re: Crafting

July 25 2012
OH yes, I was playing an elementalist at the time, doing Tailoring and Jeweler actively at the time, I had a few 10 slot bags and also crafted myself some armor early on as well.

But yes, their goal like they said for crafting is, everything is useful. Which for the most part is true, even if you craft stuff you don't need you can just salvage it to go into other crafted projects as well. Otherwise, just keep the materials for other crafting disciplines.

Did you manage to get your crafting skill high enough to actually use your crafted items?

Quote by bluegamers
It isn't a whole lot you get back from it, but if you've crafted alot of items, you can maybe get enough materials back for 1 or 2 more items.

At least that is better than having to vender trash it off.

Re: A Stonewall Guide to Fleet Starbases

I don't believe that there's been an official post on this yet, as the Admirals have been hard at work, developing a system that allows officers to track the purchases of all fleet members from fleet stores, to ensure that everyone has an opportunity to buy some of the items that the fleet has provisioned.

This system is confusing for everyone at the moment, as the learning curve is high, but what I understand is planned as far as fleet policy, is as follows:

  • Fleet members will be allowed to initially purchase one ship and a certain number of other items from fleet stores
  • Fleet members will need to request access to the store from a Fleet Captain or Admiral, when they're ready to make their purchase
  • The Fleet Captain or Admiral will temporarily promote the member to a rank which allows access to the fleet store, so that the member can make their purchase(s), before demoting them back to regular member rank

The number of items a fleet member can purchase will initially be limited, until everyone has had a fair opportunity to make the purchases that they're interested in.

Please understand that this is simply my understanding of what is planned, and that my interpretation may be incorrect in some areas. I welcome any other Fleet Captains or Admirals to correct any errors I've made in this post.

As a Fleet Captain, I'm more than content to allow the membership to have first pick at the new items in the fleet stores; this is a sentiment that I'm certain is shared by the other Captains and Officers, so I don't believe that there's any need for concern that the provisioned items are going to the minority of the membership.

I believe that you can expect a public post on the process from the Admiralty in the very near future.

Happy Trekking!

A word from the Admirality stating that they are building up the provisions to allow a surplus would be wise. However they should refrain from Utilizing the Provisioned equipment and ships before the provisioning surplus is met. They should be given first shot at the Provisions, which they can do by allowing the Fleet captain, and admirals access a day or two early.

We aren't building up a surplus. We've already started allowing members to purchase items from the Fleet Stores. I think a grand total of 2 Fleet Ships, 1 Weapon and 1 Armor has been purchased so far.

This was one of the big topics that we discussed during the Fleet-wide meeting last weekend. It was decided that we would impose limits on how many items that a member can purchase, (For instance, one ship per person). There's a fleet rank called "Empty" currently that has the purchase permission. To be allowed the ability to purchase from the Fleet Store all you have to do is request a temporary promotion from a Fleet Captain or Admiral. Let the Fleet Captain now what you're purchasing so they can keep a record and tell them when you're done.

We're still working on the exact specifics for the limits, but hope to have them out soon. I was hoping to get the minutes out today from the meeting, but got caught up in-game. :P

Re: A Stonewall Guide to Fleet Starbases

The Purpose of the 30 minute projects is SOLELY for the generation of fleet credits. The 5 xp that goes toward the starbase exp is negligible. These projects have no overall value to the " improvement of the Starbase" Only as a fleet credit opportunity. 600 FM for a 30 min mission? 180 for a 20 hr?

Since the Members are not currently allowed to use the Provisioned stores, it seems like everyone who is contributing is doing so for the benefit of the Fleet captains and admirals. which in this fleet is approximately 9% of the the membership.

There is no current way of preventing the Mass assault on the projects, other than the hated 1 Data Sample at a time. Which in my opinon is a good thing to equalize the opportunity for FC accummulation. I think PW/C should implement a similar system for all contributions. For example, MAX 50 FM per contribution, or Max 500 Dilithium, or 750 Expertise. The only thing that would happen with those limitations is that the project MIGHT start a Minute or two later, but the everyone online during the ontribution time will have equal opportunity to contribute.

Please forgive the rant. I like the new Stuff but every day since Season 6 launched, I log in and read complaints about the way the systems works, and these are my thoughts on fixing them.

Nothing can be done to enforce "a fleet Policy" unless someone is assigned the task of doing so, which will make that person unlikable in the long run, and I don't believe we need to put anyone in that position.
