Re: Possible Alliance Names

August 19 2012
I was actually hoping that the alliance system would be similar to the guild system, it would really allow guilds to keep an open line of communication with whoever they want: I.e. Synergy alliance would have it's own chat along with the lgbt alliance having it's own chance

Re: GW1 Special Event: Get a tormented weapon for HoM!

August 19 2012
I have started doing the quests for this before giving up due for the need for sleep and have only one comment.. I could have sworn there was a bit more room before those mobs collided :S Still they seem to have throw us a bone as we seem to be able to use all our heroes instead of the games own henchies. Quite fun actually but hope they dont send us in domain of anguish as i dont relish those titans now.

edit: @Thrumdi looks like you do it on one character as you need to get all rewards together on that one char to hand them in for the weapon.

Re: Possible Alliance Names

I think working with the Synergy alliance would be a big plus for us, especially if they are inviting the other LGBT guilds. If the offer arises, being in a large alliance could only be beneficial. We would get the inside track on big WvW movements, but also be in easy contact with Gayme0n. I think it's great!

Event report #1

August 19 2012
When the U.S.S. Sally Ride entered the Sol transwarp gate to begin her mission, there was an anomalous energy pattern from the ship's main deflector, and then a violent explosion. The ship was heavily damaged and thrown wildly off course, coming to rest at the far edge of KDF-controlled territory. In addition to massive casualties throughout the ship, Captain Walker suffered a severe spinal injury and fell unconscious. Rather than risk her recovery by attempting to revive her, medical stabilized her condition and put her into a medical regenerator. Specific command succession was unclear, given Walker's unusual habit of frequently shuffling the chain of command and the rampant casualties.

Medical scans of several of these casualties found near the epicenter of the damage were even more troubling. Bioscans revealed that the crewmen's internal anatomy conflicted with their apparent species. They all appeared to be Federated species, but below the skin, belonged to Klingon ally groups. Scans are ongoing on surviving crew for similar signs of surgical alteration, but this has placed additional strain on the already busy medical department.

The medical crew aren't the only ones working around the clock. Engineering has its hands full coping with the massive damage to the ship's systems. Their heroic efforts in the aftermath of the disaster were barely able to restore minimal warp and deflector capability. The ship is currently limping toward the nearest system, a sparsely trafficked Klingon settlement, but the Sally Ride's armaments and defensive systems are still totally offline. The science department has done what it can to reduce power consumption and mask the ship's emissions, but her arrival was accompanied by a burst of exotic particles that won't go unnoticed for long.
__________

OOC NOTES:
GREAT event, everybody! You surprised me with cool ideas several times, and I think the situation is shaping up into something really exciting. Some odds and ends:
  • All players should report to me any attempts they make to repair the ship or do anything else to improve her chances of survival. Use in-game mail or PM me here on the site.
  • We'll be doing a mini-event in a few days to mark the arrival in the nearby system, so keep an eye out for that announcement!
  • Got something you'd like to report? Feel free to add an IC or OOC reply here to fill in the details of your character's experience at or since the event.
  • If you missed the event, no problem. Get on the SFRoleplay channel and do some pick-up scenes with your crewmates -- they'll get you up to speed.

Thanks for that reminder. I'm actually thinking about either sleeping some the afternoon before so I can get up for a little while around midnight to start it up, or trying to either take the day off or get off early. We'll see.

Very cool -- I always wanted a Torment Weapon! I'm at 30/50 for the HoM already, but I think I may end up doing this as my last hurrah to GW1 :)

GW1 Special Event: Get a tormented weapon for HoM!

August 18 2012
Time to dust off that copy of GW1. ArenaNet is running a special event until 8/30--Wayfarer's Reverie

Basically you're visiting these awesome, nostalgia-inducing places across Tyria. Complete this for all 4 campaigns, you get a token to trade in for a tormented weapon! Especially great for those who don't have any weapons in their HoM, like me

More info.

Re: Back up server discussion

August 18 2012
Ok, let's close this up.

Here are the results to the poll:

None, we don't need an "official" back up server7
Yak's Bend2
Maguuma2
Jade Quarry2
Stormbluff Isle2
Fort Aspenwood1
Sea of Sorrows1
Northern Shiverpeaks1
Fergusons's Crossing7

Doing some quick math .. ow my head..

Yes19
No7

So let's go with Ferguson's Crossing as our "temporary" back-up server. I would request that if you speak to any members and they're struggling to get onto Crystal Desert you don't immediately point them to the back up server.

Let's try to get as many people as possible onto the real server and if they do decide to go back up, please try and explain that they may end up paying to move later.

I will post this as part of the server "news" on the front-page and also in the Crystal Desert confirmation thread. I won't create a new thread to announce it because I don't want to risk confusing people who may glance across the forums.

Apparently there is a good chance that guesting is not going to be available at launch, but instead free transfers will be offered. However, due to Crystal Desert maybe becoming full there can be an issue were the guild fragments into multiple realms.

It has already been stated by ArenaNet that when someone is on a different realm not only they cannot WvWvW with others, but guild influence is separated from them entirely. Which mean perks, bonuses and guild bank are not shared between realms.

It seems that people are unaware of the issue, because in this topic people are wanting to have no backup server

If think we really need to establish one soon, officially... stated by the officers. Because if not, there's a very good chance that the guild will branch out in multiple servers... being very fragmented.

Free transfers in beta had a cooldown, so say if someone wanted to help someone in the guild they would have to use a free transfer and then discover they cannot come back to crystal desert for 3 days. If the guild is really fragmented, that 3 day cooldown essentially means you can only play with one person every 3 days.

While there is no confirmation about transfers being on a cooldown, I still think we should plan for the worst. Even if there is no cooldown, anyone who transfers cannot go back to Crystal Desert due to it being full.

So it's just better overall to declare a backup server and have 2 communities in case, that way no one has to worry about transfering to help others.

So please, officially set one up to be visible by everyone so that way we don't have guild members who can't play with us and end up leaving :(

Great site! I finally finished reading through the whole thing, and to be honest, it got me very excited about crafting. It also made me realized transwhatever stones can be used on cultural armor, so that i do not have to wait until level 30 to look good, thanks Kerstov.
