Re: You are not in a guild...

We processed a master invite list shortly after creating the guild. Your name was on the list and I do remember sending you an invite.

However, the game/servers were having some lag and other issues that might not have allowed some invites to go through. I'm sending you another invite ingame now.

You are not in a guild...

August 25 2012
Logged in this morning, and when I brought up the guild panel it was empty. When I tried guild chat I received a message "You are not in a guild".

Everything was working properly last night, but it's gone this morning.

Anyone have any info?

The 3 hour early start was awsome! Too bad I slept 4 hours then made hot coffee before I realized the servers were down, so now I'm wide awake with nothing to do hehe.

Aside from the broker being lagged out, a couple of very minor in-game glitches and and the login server hiccup happening at current moment, I think all has been done well; I'm pleased so far. I'm sure they will iron out these wrinkles soon!

I'm not concerned about anyone's conduct but my own. I'd rather give them all the benefit of the doubt, work together as comrades in arms against our common enemies, ignore any preconceived notions we might have about them, and avoid substantiating any preconceived notions they might have about us. I'ma ignore the hate, dodge the troll bait, and focus on having fun with my awesome guildies!

Re: Event report #1

August 25 2012
Acting Captain's Log:

I'm not sure how much the computer was able to record over the last several hours, so I'll try to give a brief summary. Our ship has been severely damaged by KDF saboteurs disguised as Starfleet officers. None of them survived the explosion, so we weren't able to interrogate them to find out their intentions. I have yet, however, to rule out the possibility of there being other operatives on board. I am therefore continuing the investigation. Our current location is deep inside Klingon space. We’ve managed to patch the warp drive together long enough to get us to a nearby star system. Once there, we will look for a good hiding spot to make repairs (this is where being Romulan really comes in handy). The system is sparsely populated which hopefully means that we won’t run into any trouble.

The captain is… incapacitated. I don’t really understand the injuries she’s sustained, but Dr. Lindstrom tells me that her recovery will take quite some time. I almost wish I had paid more attention during basic medical training. Almost. In fact, most of the senior officers were incapacitated during the explosion. This has left the ship in the hands of several inexperienced junior officers (I include myself on that list). We’re all trying our best to get through this, and I feel that the remaining crew members have performed admirably under the circumstances. I can’t say that I’ve known the captain for long or that I know her well, but I’d like to think that she would be proud of us. I hope we’ll get the chance to find out.

As we travel at low warp to the aforementioned system, I will put my weapons systems training to use by attempting to repair the phasers. Acting captain or not, everyone has to contribute at this point. I will provide supplemental updates as time and circumstances permit.

End of log.

OOC: I'm free this weekend during the mornings and afternoon (CST/ GMT-6:00) for any pickup scenes.

Commander Sev has finished his analysis of the Main Deflector system's status. The majority of the system was completely useless. However, there were enough salvageable components left to create a few sub-amplification boosters for the secondary deflector array, this should boosts its capacity by 10%. He will need an experienced engineer to help install these salvaged components.

Additionally, The Commander found something odd during his salvage operation. He is hoping to meet with the Captain and CMO soon to discuss these findings.

OOC: I would like to have a scene with the Acting Captain and the Acting Chief Medical Officer at their earliest conveniences to discuss these odd findings.

I would also like to meet with the acting chief engineer to have a scene repairing the secondary deflector array.

They can be all at the same time if everyone is OK with it!

"First Steps" Screenshot Contest

August 24 2012

Event Type: Screenshot contest.
Start date/time: The second the servers turn "on".
Finish date/time: Tuesday, September the 11th (extended due to technical issues with the website)

I thought it would be fun to try and capture the first "defining" moment of our characters journey through Tyria and a screenshot contest seemed the most fun way of accomplishing this.

You have a week from the official launch date (August 28th) to take one screenshot (no multiple entries) that defines your characters "first steps".

This could be anything from you hanging out with your favourite NPC, grouping with friends or sitting at your favourite look-out point. Whatever you feel has best captured your characters live so far.

If you wish to enter then please reply to this thread with your screenshot attached and perhaps a short description. Then your Majors and Commanders (who are more then welcome to take part) will decide who's screenshot they liked best.

I will create an album for the website with all the entries so we can look back and remember how it all began.

Please only submit screenshots that have been taken between the servers being on and the closing date of the competition (beta screenshots are awesome but your beta characters are dead :p).

Looking for dedicated PvP players for tournaments

August 24 2012
Disclaimer:The team I will be making is separate from the official guilds channels of PvP. At this current time of writing the PvP majors of the guild are doing both, with a primary focus on WvWvW due to popularity.

Hi everyone, at this moment I am looking to create a tournament team for the upcoming launch of Guild Wars 2.

When I first started PvP, I used to be terrible. I had no rank, no achievements... and everytime I tried I just simply couldn't find a team because no one would accept me.

My only hope was to create teams and lead them myself, which is exactly what I did. I do not depend on anyones rank, achievements, or how long they have been playing. The only thing I depend on is if they have voice chat or not.

The key to becoming a successful PvP player is the willingness to listen and improve. I like to say that PvP is not optimistic at all, it's all sweat and blood. You will be criticized as well as myself, it is simply inevitable. If you can't handle constructive feed back, then you should NOT step into structured PvP.

With that being said, I am looking for just the right people for my team. I plan on taking tournaments seriously, and I will be actively looking for players who have the same viewpoint as mine. I know it's just a game, but I'm not getting any younger so I intend to get the right people who want to have as much fun as possible without wasting time.

You may be wondering which classes do I need and the simple answer is none, due to the nature of cross profession combos I will be looking for specific classes. Unfortunately, you cannot simply roll any class and expect to win in Structured PvP. So you should have access to multiple professions.

If you seriously want to participate in tournaments, please send Chase.8415 a whisper ingame OR post below.

This is a general idea of how structured PvP should be:

Re: Plans for headstart

August 24 2012
Realizing that I'm probably not going to do anything even remotely productive and barely anything substantially life-sustaining over the weekend, my plan is as follows for survivability:

1. 5:00ish - Run to the grocery store and buy a ton of veggies and snacks
2. 6:00 - Cook a gargantuan pot of either vegetable stew or vegan chili (I'm still debating which one) and a massive vat of hummus to snack on with pita - all enough to hold me over for a couple days
3. 7:30 - Get laundry done for the week b’cos that's the farthest thing from my mind the rest of the w/e
4. 8:30 – Starbucks run!
5. 9:00 - Surf the web on various GW2 sites while sipping on some coffee, all the meanwhile dreaming of when they turn the servers on.
6. 11:00 - Log onto vent, join the party and the spam-login fest!
7. Login 'till whenever, get characters/names situated, get key binds and gaming mouse situated, and play until I drop from sheer exhaustion.
8. Rinse, and repeat #6 & #7 (sans bind, mouse, character steps) through Sunday with maybe the occasional 15 minute break here and there for only essential non-game stuff.

You all are soooo right - it does feel like Christmas. I can almost hear the jingle bells right now outside the window!

I also like the fact that this game gives you no other choice than to be INCLUSIVE. there's no kill stealing, no gathering node stealing, no loot stealing. so these catalysts that tend to set people off, are GONE!!!, there's still the idiots in world and general chat though. but, you can always block them. i plan to use that feature a LOT.

Thank you Cubby....man I want to give you a hug right now. I read everything and this one post (for me) floats to the surface as.......brilliant!

This was fascinating.

It's great GW2 is getting its own economist -- just like Eve Online!

If you think of it, they're kind of required to have one. It's entire economy is based around the United States Dollar.
