Re: Stonewall Recipe Exchange Thread

October 01 2012
My favorite recipe in the world is for a home made pizza... one that needs to be divided up and served at a potluck, with minimal per person consumption due to extremely high fat ratio

First and foremost, every grocery store has refrigerated pizza dough.

1 thin crust pizza dough canister
1 sweet onion diced
1 green pepper diced
1 lb. cooked crispy bacon, broken to bits
3 cloves crushed garlic
2 cups mayonnaise
1 lb. shredded swiss cheese

layer all ingredients on a greased pan with crust down first, and cheese last

bake at 350 for 10-15 min until cheese is golden on top!

Eat like you mean it! Seriously!

ALERT: Comms array overload

October 01 2012
A few hours after Stacy is taken into custody, a massive power surge rips through the ship's communication array. The overload emits a tremendous burst of noise through subspace, audible even over combadges, and severely damages the ship's communications equipment. Engineers quickly determine that the surge was triggered deliberately by a hidden device attached to the array. While they can't determine when the device was put in place, they do note that it was attached to a timer and a signal receiver that could periodically have been used to delay the timer, a little like the snooze button on an alarm. It's either a dead-man switch, or it was deliberately designed to look like one.

Communications officers say that the signal will almost certainly be picked up by anyone within several light years, giving away the ship's location at the time of the surge. However, as the ship was at warp at the time, and is still following a circuitous path with emissions minimized, the signal can't necessarily be used to pick up our trail. They also note that the damage from the surge will limit communication to short range only.
_____

OOC: Told you there'd be alerts popping up! You can investigate the device, look over logs of the signal itself, ask Stacy about it... anything you can think of. Make sure to notify anyone who doesn't check this board often, too, in case they're curious.

Yeah the Ranger has been my main so far. It's comfortable and I like playing with him. But I have the others lined up. At this rate it'll be forever! But that's completely fine with me.

Event #5 report

September 30 2012
An act of sabotage aboard the USS Sally Ride turned a routine transwarp jump into a disastrous plunge to the far side of Klingon space. The ship was crippled and her captain put in a coma, and now the remaining crew must find their way back to Federation space, pursued by a mysterious flotilla of heavily modified warships. Worse, continuing sabotage threatens to reveal them to their enemies. There is a spy aboard. Who can be trusted?

Between the scans of the flotilla, the debris of the main deflector, and the device recovered from the warp coil, the crew put together a profile of the technology that is being used against them and ran an internal scan of the ship. There were Borg devices present in the quarters of liberated Borg crewmen (including Seven and Eris 8), but also, surprisingly, a human engineer: Lieutenant Stacy. A small group comprising those Borg officers, acting captain Orenn, ship's counselor Kelsan, and the nearest redshirt to hand went to search her quarters.

Kelsan and Orenn spoke to Stacy, while Seven and Eris minutely scanned the room. They discovered a cache of components from multiple technological sources in various states of deconstruction, as well as a shielded hand phaser. Stacy explained that the components were simply things she had picked up in Engineering and wanted to think about during her off hours, but aspects of her story were inconsistent. She was, of course, cleared to carry a hand phaser, but keeping it in her quarters was also an unusual choice. Orenn made the choice to have her placed in detention.

At this point, knowing that bioscans all over the ship had been plagued with anomalies, Kelsan thought to try a lower-tech solution: a simple blood test. Without announcing her intentions, she replicated a hypodermic and drew blood from the engineering officer, at which point Stacy's entire demeanor changed. It quickly became apparent why: though apparently human, her blood was green. A scan revealed Orion biochemistry -- it's still unclear why bioscans of her have always turned up human.

Her cover blown, "Stacy" -- she still refused to reveal her name -- became aloof and sarcastic. She claimed to belong to the same organization whose flotilla of modified ships has been chasing the Sally Ride across Klingon space. She bragged that by simply repurposing new technology rather than prying it apart to fully figure out why it works, her organization can make useful tools out of salvage at a rate that puts the Federation to shame. As for the Sally Ride, she eventually claimed that her group had little interest in the ship itself, and were instead taking the first step toward a grand sabotage of the Federation's entire transwarp network.

Most of the officers present responded diffidently to these threats, although Ensign Benton seemed not to share their confidence. It's clear that they must warn the Federation of this plot, but Stacy seems to have little doubt that the damaged ship will never make it back to the Federation. It's a problem that is only becoming more immediate as the Sally Ride draws nearer to the fortified border, and her moment of reckoning.

OOC notes:

SPY SAPPIN' MAH DEFLECTOR!

Now that I've got that out of my system: again, what a great night! We're drawing closer to the end of this arc, so there may be a few more reports posted this week as the pace of events speeds up. Feel free to respond with your own ideas and in-character actions or reports.

  • If you want your character to question Stacy while she's in custody, get in touch with @gettorix and set up a scene!
  • If you have story ideas for our next arc, now is a great time to contact me and pitch them. I'd be happy to have you Q your own story, or just come up with the scenario and have me run it, if you would prefer.
  • Be coming up with ideas on how to make it past the patrols on the Klingon border. You're going to need them very soon.
  • I went back and edited the last report to reflect Eris's name change.

Yenzoc's Report [29 Sept]

September 29 2012
OOC: I have a meeting this evening and will not be able to do the roleplay this evening. However, there was a report I had wanted Yenzoc to present this evening, had there not been this schedule conflict. So (hoping it's not too late), I'm posting this report here to the players in advance of this evening's roleplay.

IC:
Immediately after I left our last officer's meeting, I had an epiphany regarding the silicon-based technology.

I realised that we are well aware that certain factions have been re-engineering Borg technologies for use on their vessels. I also realised that we have been running on an assumption regarding the Borg that may not be accurate. We know the Borg assimilate organic--carbon-based--lifeforms, but what if they are capable of assimilating inorganic life forms as well? Given that silicon has been used in the manufacture of computer circuitry for centuries, it stands to reason that the Borg would at least have a certain affinity for silicon-based lifeforms--like the Horta.

Let us presume that the Borg have been assimilating Horta, and modifying them such that they take the physical form we saw on the ships. To what end? We know that the Borg have a predilection for cutting portholes directly into bulkheads as a means of boarding a vessel. The acidic compounds inherent to Horta biology would make quick work of dissolving a ship's exterior so as to create a porthole.

As to what ends the Klingons--assuming they were Klingons manning those vessels--would use this particular technology, I have not come to a conclusion. Likewise, I have not had the opportunity to consult with the ship's experts on the Borg to determine the likelihood of this scenario. Nonetheless, it is the most reasonable conclusion I have been able to draw.

I submit this report for your consideration, and hope that it sheds some light on the mystery surrounding our attackers.

Well besides Hijacking the thread to say im comming back in full time ^.^ I also would say we have almost the same line up. Instead of a thief I have a warrior though. Take all you notions about a standard warrior and throw em out the window. They can use almost every weapon. The banners and shouts have great buffs. They do amazing damage. Also...get this, if specced for healing. Thier shouts heal on low cooldowns and it heals for a lot. At 80 I was healing 1.5k per shout/20second cd. The same trait that raises toughness also raises healing. Vit raises Boons so you become a walking healing Turtle. Mind you I was still doing great dmg. Took 3 or more people to kill me in pvp cuz of all the healing and dmg mitigation.

Down side time now. They dont have much of a mystical feel which I like. When you are used to strat and finesse with mes or ele, the bare bones easy style of the warrior can cause reptition. Warrior is kinda like easy mode. Thats why I took mine healing. To be diffrent.

Gaurdian, oh what to say about you. Basically a mystical warrior. Less weapons, but they get awesome summons. I dont like a lot of the mid/long range on them though. Moves kinda slow. The elite book skill on them is amazing for long range. Also comes with a long cooldown too. Unless you spec for shorter cool downs.

I never really got into engineer. First time I played one, I found I hated the first few bundles and gave up. I hear they get much better and with jump shot on the rifle they can cheese thru all the jumping puzzles. Ill Let a experienced engi answer on all that though. ^.^

Re: Official Guild Emblem VOTING!

September 28 2012
What you purchase when you buy a guild piece of armour or weapon is a "skin". So when you try to use it you get a transmutation window to apply that skin to another item.

Should you wish to then upgrade that item (if a better one drops) then you simply need to use a Transmutation stone to transfer the guild emblem skin onto the new piece of armour. So as long as you have lots of stones (you get them for completing zones or can buy them of the Gem Store) then you need not worry about "wasting" it on a low level item.

As for the window being red, I can only think of two reasons this would happen. First being that the piece of armor you're trying to Transmutate is of a higher level than your character currently is (I'm nearly 100% sure you have to be the right level to do it) or it's not the correct armour type for yourself.

You'd have to buy two guild pistols to have them both show the emblem, as there is no way to copy an item skin without losing the original item.

Hope this helps,

Halish

Profession Selection

September 28 2012
Hey everyone, I hope this finds you well.

I was wondering if you guys could give me a more in depth run down of the pros and cons to the professions. I've been wanting to fill my roster of character slots with them but I'm having difficulty deciding my last one.

I currently have a Ranger (Eric L) an Elementalist (Liam L) a Mesmer (Lucien L) and a Thief (Evan L)
and so I was looking at the other professions to choose for my fifth and final character. I was looking at a Necromancer because I kind of liked how they played in GW, I'm just not sure how there game play has changed.

I was also looking at trying the Guardian or Engineer but I'm not sure how the Guardian is different from the Warrior (aside from the ability to buff allies) and I know nothing of the Engineer except for the turrets.

Can anyone give me some information that might help? I would google the information that I'm looking for, but unfortunately the testimony would be stale and stagnant and would quite possibly like the conviction and passion of someone who has actually played the professions. Plus the pros and cons can be pretty sterile so if you can give me your opinions I would greatly appreciate it. Anything can help.

Thanks!

No Way to recombine the guilds on the server

September 27 2012
Customer service FINALLY responded to my open ticket regarding the feasibility of recombining the guilds into one for each faction. Just as I suspected :pinch:, they said there was no way for them to do that (color me SO surprised ) so we will have to re-invite the remaining members (that wish to rejoin us) into the re-formed guilds on the server. I checked the activity logs of both guilds and found that only 2 players from each guild had remained active so this will not be as difficult a task as I first thought :woohoo:. The remainder of the members haven't logged onto their toons in over 140+ days. Therefore, I sent a game mail to each of the toons that were still active, apprizing them of the situation and what they needed to do if they wished to rejoin their guildmates in the re-formed Knights and Lords of Stonewall guilds.

Captains, I would appreciate it if you would be extra watchful (as you usually are) when you are playing for any re-invite requests from these members. I also told them to send me a game mail if they have any difficulty finding someone on that can invite when they are playing. Neither of these members are active on the website, unfortunately, otherwise I would have also recommended they post a reply to our stickied thread "X Needs an Invite" in this same forum section. As always, please let me know if you have any questions and I will do my best to answer them. :)

Re: Social Network Presence

September 27 2012
I agree we should keep all the groups together if for nothing else but simplicity. I read all the new posts on the site in an attempt to keep up with all the different group happenings. The only problem is I will have to learn how to use all these different networks. I refuse to use Facebook but maybe my wife will let me use her account to follow Stonewall postings. I've just never seen a use for Twitter. Yes I am one of those people without a social network and I can still function!
