Re: The usual STF Deflector-Engine-Shield Question

October 11 2012
I had just picked up my MACOflector and subbed it in for my old Jemuflector when I heard that I apparently had the 2nd best DPS in the STF where I won it. This made me go back and think a bit:
  1. The 2xMACO set bonus, magna rebate, seems...kind of dumb. We're talking barely more useful than a white doff.
  2. 2xJem'Hadar gives you a polaron damage bonus and I use polaron everything and apparently that's working out better than I thought!
  3. The MACOflector has huge perks for tanks, but I am not particularly tanky.
  4. Meanwhile the Jemuflector has a 33% bigger Graviton boost, very important when passing out gravwells like cheap cigars, and an absolutely colossal bonus to siphon and system targeting, which I use all the time.

I think I might have to stick to Jem-Jem-MACO!

BUT I do have to admit the MACOflector has a really cool particle effect.

I think it's safe to say that it'll definitely have First Person and "cock-pit" views just like his older games. I wouldn't be surprised to see a third person "behind the ship" view but we'll just have to wait and see on that.

I think a lot of it will be a bit of wait and seeing. :)

One of those games where you fly the ship First Person Style.

Depends what you mean by flying games?

The game will have both space and ground combat. It has a single-player campaign and an online open sandbox environment (though, I guess details of how extensive this will be will come out over time).

Give the website a read / watch the longer video and a interview: http://backup-na.robertsspaceindustries.com/

He's using a "pledge" system like kickstarter but not using kickstarter.

Re: Specialty Slots...

October 10 2012
There are very few back slot items in the game at current, and none of them provides stats beyond a single upgrade slot.

Strictly speaking, the guild armorer back piece is the only non-story reward piece of back armor, which might make it the "best" by default.

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Back_item

So far the best gear I found for that slot would be from the guild armorer, which cost 5g for the level 80 rare version.

Guild Armorer Backpack(s)
Level 35 = 1 Gold = Green Item
Level 60 = 3 Gold = Green Item
Level 80 = 5 Gold = Rare Item

Your personal story Back Brace will give you 4 + 3 stats = 7 total (vs) 6 + 4 stats = 10 for the level 35 Guild Armor Backpack = 1 Gold...don't spend the gold, get the free one from you personal story quest as the stats difference is not worth the $.

At 60 and 80 then consider a Guild Backpack upgrade (if you have that kind of extra $)...I went to level 80 with my personal story Back-Brace with no problems...

80 Rare Guild Backpack with give you (48) total points of mixed states like 14 + 14 + 20 like this or 20 + 14 + 14 etc.

Any idea if there are other sources?

Thanks Nick for posting this. The entire thing is OH SO TRUE but the wealthy continue to act like they've never been given ANYTHING, they are just so persecuted for their money, and that they are going broke with all the taxes they have to pay. There me-me-me attitude is so totally DISGUSTING and change is nowhere in sight. :pinch: Oh well.....

Re: SWTOR Help

October 09 2012
First off, I sincerely apologize for the lateness of my reply. I had to go out of town unexpectedly over the weekend and missed your initial posting so it didn't show as a new post on my return.

The only time that's been mentioned for when F2P goes live is November. No actual dates have ever been listed. There is a difference in the free to play to level 15 and the actual F2P for the entire game. The free to play to level 15 has been available for awhile as a trial version of the game. Once you hit level 15 on any character you roll that's it for that character, you are expected to subscribe if you want to continue playing. The entire game is supposedly going F2P sometime in November and whatever "store" that will be associated with it will appear then as well. There hasn't been any further details about what's going to happen then at all so I can't be any more detailed about it (much as I'd like to  ).

As far as your targeting goes, that's just something you will have to resolve on your own because you are the one actually "clicking" on something to "target" it. In preferences, there is a choice you can enable to have the game target the nearest enemy but that's all the help you can get in this regard. Odioshi is correct, you can use the "tab key" to target an enemy mob but it doesn't always target the one you may have wanted to go after at that particular point in time. It will, however, NOT target your teammate as you know you can easily do if you are click targeting on your own. As far as need or greed, anytime a choice like that comes up you have the option of selecting whichever would work best for you. As Odioshi stated, if you actually NEED the item select need. Don't, however, go selecting need for everything that comes up, because that's totally unfair to your teammates and will get you accused of ninja looting (and reported for same occasionally depending on whom you've pissed off for doing it) More than one person can roll need for the same item and then it becomes a contest between the roll numbers of each player that has selected need. Unfortunately, not everyone acts morally when this situation arises. This has been an ongoing problem in any game that uses this mechanic. Some game developers have attempted to control the outcomes of these rolls but not all are successful. In WOW, for example, it became such a problem that they changed it so that anytime someone rolls need for an item it immediately becomes soulbound so that it can't then be sold at exorbitant prices through the auction house. Before this change was made, anytime you ran a pug dungeon you risked being teammates with someone who rolled need for EVERYTHING even when their character obviously couldn't use the item. SWTOR is still doing it the old way so you may occasionally run into someone that does this.

Again, no actual date (or new and different details) has been posted about when F2P is going live. If you can afford it, I would seriously recommend subscribing because there are all sorts of possibly frustrating restrictions you will be faced with if you go with the F2P model. Probably the biggest being flashpoints and operations (group instances). You will be restricted to doing flashpoints to once per week (and there are a LOT of them so you'll really be missing out on grouping with friends) and you won't be able to do any operations at all. There are also supposed to be some character creation limitations and those that use the F2P model won't get as many of the Cartel coins or points as subscribers. If you access the SWTOR website you may find some information that explains things better than I am able to. The linked webpage has a lot of things to click on and read that might just put it all in perspective for you and help you with your decision. :)
