Elite STF Tutorials

January 03 2013
I've begin to notice that there's now more than a few new fleeties that either have just hit Lvl 50 or have never done an Elite STF. Last night I started an Space ESTF tutorial run through for a few of them and afterwards an informal ship outfit/load out clinic. I was actually unprepared for the level of response and we filled up pretty quickly. I apologize if you were one we had to turn away. I had a lot of fun and earn a few hundred Omega Marks to boot.

So for the Month of January (or until no one else wants to do it), barring work, a hot man...(Ahem* God helps the sister that comes between me and my mister) or Act of God, I am planning to be doing these Monday and Thursday Nights (Ground on Monday and Space on Thursday) starting at 2100 (9:00PM) Eastern Time, We will do each of the STFS (Cure, Infected, Khitomer Accord and Hive if we're up to it) and I will walk you though what to do and how to get the optional. The only thing I ask is that you have Ventrilo installed, you don't need a head set, but just so you can hear the instructions. Ventrilo instructions can be found HERE

If you are interested in doing one of these runs or if you're interested in hosting a run on one of the nights I am unable to (Tuesday and Wednesday) please drop me a line here or in game @WhiteOnmyoji.

Thanks guys and see ya in game.

Re: You may want to never use Vent again....

January 03 2013
I prefer vent over teamspeak but that is because teamspeak just refuses to work well for me when ventrillo is fine.
But its seems common that people are generally better off with one than the other.

I tried to use vent today, but quality of communication was really very bad. I would also vote for teamspeak :)

Thanks for posting this Seannewboy. It's quite interesting. I just "love" the "servers are rocking" statement...sure they're rocking, they dropped the number from over a hundred to 8 in the US. How could they not be rocking?

Re: Getting to know you.

January 03 2013
Greetings Tim,

I'm also pretty new here myself, welcome to the fleet! My name is Daniel, born and raised in Riverside California (50 miles east of Los Angeles) I started watching Star Trek at a pretty early age, long before I think I understood exactly what it meant. Did help me establish a long standing love for science and progressiveness.
I started with TNG, and by my middle school years I had the Original series film box set (1-6) and probably watched them every weekend. HAHA I think I had greater trouble as an adult coming out as a trekie than coming out as gay; I'm still trying to figure out which one was harder on my family and community.

I feel for you about your disorder, as a kid I had a series of physical handicaps that prevented me from engaging in "normal formative social behaviors". LOL so swimming, climbing, bike riding, and a lot of other interactions happened in late teens or adulthood. Still dealing with an inability to cope with many social situations (without the involvement of alcohol). I don't mean to compare, just sympathize. I hope you enjoy playing in our fleet, so far everyone has been nice, helpful, and generally welcoming :)

Topic #4: Same Gender Romance: Any news on this front would be great… Answer: First of all, I want to apologize that this is taking so long to get in the game. I realize that we promised SGR to you guys and that many of you believed that this would be with a companion character. Unfortunately, this will take a lot more work than we realized at the time and it (like some other pieces of content we talked about earlier in the year) has been delayed as we focused on the changes required to take the game Free-to-Play. As we have said in the past, allowing same gender romance is something we are very supportive of.

Secondly, I want to reveal today that we are adding SGR with some NPCs on Makeb and do intend on pursuing more SGR options in the future. More details to come!

Awesome :)

Re: Doctor Who?...

January 03 2013
Whoa! That girl in the cemetary with Modern Clara was Mels? I totally didn't pick up on that. I'll have to rewatch that one.

With regard to Clara's apparently ability to reincarnate in at least three eras (Victorian England, Modern Day, and the future (52nd century?)), I have a theory on this. I came up with it after talking to a friend of mine who is REALLY into Doctor Who history. I'm not going into go into depth into it, partially because I don't want to spoil where they are potentially going with this. However, I will say that I think it has a lot to do with the 'Great Intelligence'.

If you want to know more, check the TARDIS Wiki about the Great Intelligence. Reading up on that and the Doctor's companions during those episodes, will tell you what I think is going on here.

They did come out and say that it's planetary storyline only, no class quest updates in this one unfortunately. Usually I check massively.com pretty regularly - they've got a lot of information. Been on a bit of a hiatus from the game, but finally getting back into it :) Sooooooo nice to be back!

Re: Ship Names

January 02 2013
All of my ships are named after locations from A Game of Thrones and the subsequent books. I just made Commander so I've only used three at this point.

Starter: Winterfell
Cruiser: Sunspear
Heavy Cruiser: Riverrun

Whenever I get a new ship, I just crack open a book and check out the map. I'm not sure if I will repeat namesyet.

Re: "Shadows of the Past" by @backyardserenade

January 02 2013
New Review:
- November/December 2012 edition of the Stonewall Times (PDF file)
"Backyardserenade delivers a phenomenally written, Bajoran-centric story that has its roots in the Deep Space Nine universe. The intricately developed storyline easily rivals those being published by some of the best Foundry authors known to the community, despite this being the author's first published mission. This story would find itself at home in the DS9 TV series." - Stonewall Times
The article also includes an in-depth interview about the mission and its creation process!

PATCH NOTES:

Current version: 1.03.011

General:
- fixed some typos
- changed some odd-looking animations

Gameplay:
- added a little combat to the later parts of the mission
- fixed a potentially game-breaking bug where an NPC contact could get accidentally destroyed, hindering mission progress
