One of these days I'm going to make good on my promise to my GW2 friends and roll a toon there, and it's nice to know that I'll be greeted by familiar Stonewall faces!

This weekend is a GW2 free trial weekend. Maybe we'll catch you in game, Voleron. ;)

Fave bands... 311, Breaking Benjamin, Linkin Park, Imagine Dragons, Our Lady Peace, Rise Against, My Darkest Days, 30 Seconds to Mars... mostly rotate between Octane, Alt Nation, XM-U, and Lithium on XM.

I also like Techno/Trance/Dance music (BPM, Electric Area on XM).

Love me some R&B (Mary J and Aaliyah are faves).

I listen to Daft Punk's TRON Soundtrack a lot while working. LOTR Music is nice too... go Howard Shore!

I guess the only music I don't listen to is Country.

My tastes jump all over the place but Placebo is my favorite band. Whatever mood I may be in - Placebo is what I turn to. Here's a couple songs I like.

1. Twenty Years 2. Without you I'm nothing (Ft. David Bowie) 3. Pure Morning

Cher, can NOT forget her."Strong Enough" was one of my favorite songs at the club in the late 90's. ;)

P!ink - Glitter in the Air. Puts a smile on my face and her performance of the song at the 2010 Grammy's....Freaking Amazing.

There's 2 songs I listen too once in awhile. Sad, but it's how I feel.
Johnny Cash - Hurt
The Living - Stephen Merchant (by Natalie Merchant)

Re: The end of gay.com

April 17 2013
That's a shame that gay.com is just trying to become a browser based version of Grindr. I remember when people moved away from IRC to gay.com to chat and meet people. Sure, it was a meat market back in the day, but now it seems to have completely taken the social aspects away and getting to the point where it's pretty much about hooking up and getting off.

Re: Music

April 17 2013
Oh dear god, this is a topic I could opine about for pages upon pages. So, instead of boring the shit out of everyone, here are some specific songs that carry specific, lifelong meanings for me.

"Landslide" by Fleetwood Mac, specifically the reunion tour version. This song was my Year 1 theme after coming out when I was 19. Despite how much I hate the show, I was pleasantly surprised to hear it got busted out as Santana's coming out song on Glee. (BTW, Jacien, I love how 'Bootylicious' uses Stevie Nicks' guitar riff from 'Edge of Seventeen'!)

"Battle with the Four Fiends" from Final Fantasy IV is my 'get amped up for a work out/fucking shit up' anthem. It's kind of ridiculous how that song can get me so psyched up after 20 years.

"Know Your Enemy" from Green Day will forever remind me of when I was the most angry and pissed off I've ever been. I had this on repeat after Prop 8 passed in California and it's my song for when I'm done with the idiots of the world.

On a slightly related note, I ended up singing "Will the Circle be Unbroken" from Bioshock Infinite last night in my room, spurred on by the Boston Marathon bombings. There's a sweet melancholy to that song, especially in its reworked version.

Hhmmm... That's a toughie because a lot of different songs make me happy for a lot of different reasons. Most of them are connected to one memory or another but I'll go ahead and say "Bootylicious" by Destiny's Child is my feel good song. Primarily because I feel that song was written about me ;) and for years my nickname was "Jelly" because my backside was flatteringly disproportionate to the rest of me and I always knew how to move it. When I hear it I just have to dance and I love doing cardio to it.

If I'm really in the mood to punish myself I listen to "Cry" by Faith Hill because it speaks to how callously my best friend (and admittedly first love) ended things between us when he found out I was gay. If I'm in the mood to be angry about it or something else I listen to "Walking on Broken Glass" by Annie Lennox with its slightly dissonant piano notes and eloquently worded lyrics.

Music is king. I have a wide array of what moves me, personally. I also make fairly regular podcast-style mixes that I share here. These may or may not be of your preference but feel free to download from here. :)

If any tune that hits home with me today, it's this suite (sorry for the ad):

As someone who's fallen victim to RL pulling me away from gaming in general, I want to say thanks to you both.

To Elquin - I've been in game more recently and I've noticed the leadership role you've taken on. Thanks for keeping SWVG going and for all you're going to to do.

To Halish - Thanks for getting us through waves of beta tests, unannounced stress tests, launch day (woot), and all the months afterwards. Not only did you provide leadership with in-game events, you helped establish an environment for us to enjoy the game as ourselves, reminding us why SWVG exists and keeping true to the spirit of what Nic has created with the StoneWall family of guilds.

Town hats off to you both!

Thank you Halish and Stonewall Vanguard for all of the dedication you've put into our community.

I believe we are part of one of the BEST communities in Tyria and it's only possible through the support of our strong and kind members. Halish put in a lot of work to build up our community and continues to do so. I hope that I can help him out as much as possible by taking on leadership of our guild.

I'm no good at these things so I'll keep it short, but I just want to let everyone know that I am here for you guys and will dedicate my time in GW2 to the community as much as possible. I have spent some time getting to know quite a few of our members through questing, missions, WvW, etc. and I want you all to know that I am here for you and wish to keep communication open. We have a strong core that has gone through struggles over time, but our core is growing and I see a bright future ahead of us. There are many events for us to look forward to and countless fun and laughs to be had. You guys are all very wonderful people and I'm happy to call you guys family.

Thank you Stonewall Vanguard for having me as your leader,

~Elquin

Don't know if you watch the Snake Pit, but a thread just started in the Fed 'Yards about using a HEC as a boomer. Consensus seems to be leaning that it's possible to do it a couple different ways, in both hybrid and pure methods, on escorts and sciences. If you can get a cruiser to tap dance...

Change of Leadership

April 16 2013
Over the past several months my ability to lead Stonewall Vanguard has continued to fade. Mostly due to my flagging interest in Guild Wars 2 and also the hindrance of being on the wrong side of a large amount of H2O.

A couple of weeks ago I decided the only thing I could do, for the good of the guild, is to step down and thus I sent my resignation to our community leader, NicholasJohn, and after some discussions (and a couple of fist fights) he decided to accept my withdrawal and the issue turned to who would take over.

This was a much quicker and easier decision to make. Elquin, as the most active Commander, has been running the show for a while now and his dedication to the guild is showcased in his bi-weekly guild missions and continued desire to push Vanguard up to the next level and beyond. I’d like to formally announce his promotion to Leader of Stonewall Vanguard, thanking him for his service as a Commander, and wishing him the best of luck in the big chair.

As for myself, I’ll be dropping down to the Commander rank where I will continue to assist the guild in anyway I can and support Elquin in his new role. I have been very proud of what we've accomplished with Vanguard so far and I am humbled to have lead such an amazing group of individuals. I’d like to thank each and every one of you for your support given to me and my leadership team.

If you have any questions please feel free to contact myself or Elquin and we’ll see you in Tyria.

Thanks,

Halish Medi

I ejoyed the episodes, it had a good bunch of guest roles which was a plus. I'm not too sold on Clara yet, there is something with her that keeps me from liking her at the moment, it might change, but it might stick.

But the preview for next week look amazing, it seems really exciting and I can hardly wait for it. I love when it is really thrilling and a bit "scary".

I loooooooved this one. Well, the alien face caresses were a bit weird. But other than that, loved it. Very nice thriller atmosphere.

Moffat tends to do his best work when the episode is a thriller, so it's not surprising this episode was stronger. And with that in mind, I can't wait for next week's episode, Hide. That seems RIGHT up Moffat's alley.
