Re: weekly dungeon runs

April 29 2013
Hey Robyn,

SWVG is in the process of beefing up the scheduled events. Right now the only regularly attended events are the guild bounties on Thursday and Saturday.

We did end up doing some impromptu dungeon running last night. :P I think we ended up doing the dungeon around 5am your time (which would not even exist to me if I were you. lol).

I'll try to keep you posted if anything concrete surfaces!

Totally true Darkoas.
One big change that we'll need to make in the coming decades is a vast decrease in the amount of meat we eat. Compared to historical trends or even our metabolic needs, we're swimming in meat today. Going back to mainly agrarian diet will help a great many things; decrease the production of fossil fuels, curb obesity, and less soil erosion.

I can totally relate. My Dad throws a hissy fit if there isn't meat in the dinner I cook. I tell him he needs to build a time machine and go back to the early 60's if he's so enamored of the "meat and potato's diet."

Totally true Darkoas. Can you picture the sky rise farms of tomorrow? Hydroponics will play a big part in that.

This is quite interesting. Though I farming will need to build upwards to handle capacity. Think of an acre of land, it can grow only so much. now add another level to it in addition to 'Borg' farmers and you have doubled the space. Lighting becomes an issue but people are using grow lights now, for example, building maryjane farms in their basement. I am surprised that no one has yet to build a 20 story farm. All in time.

Well if this isn't the beginning of the Borg, then I don't know what is. This is creepy, but exciting too! Traull's family shared this, as they're in the farming industry.

Vote for the new Fleet Uniform!

April 29 2013
Uniform A

Akinori brings us a classic look updated for the 25th century. Subdued hues contrast with pale grey epaulets, whilst black faux-leather gloves round out the uniform. This outfit reminds us that subtle details make all the difference."

Uniform B

Faux leather always makes a bold fashion statement. ChemKarate integrates bold, asymmetric faux-leather panels into a tunic in deep jewel tones. The tunic pairs nicely with crisp, classic slacks.

Uniform C

Deep, rich hues mark DoctorDisaster's traditional look. From epaulets in espresso to a subdued take on department hues, these dark tones are the height of sophistication. Ladies have the option of wearing a skirt with the classic top.

Uniform D

The future is bright in this sleek look by Ereiid. Bright-coloured epaulets stand out against a stark sheen of white. This ensemble is so bright, you can see it from space.

Uniform E

FreakyFerret's uniform is perfect for your next deep space assignment. Class specific shoulder pads bring this outfit to completion and high boots make it perfect for whatever strange new world you'll find yourself on.

Uniform F

Gettorix's look suits both an officer and a gentleman. Whilst the uniform hews close to those worn by some of Starfleet's most decorated officers, subtle touches like mocha trim offer a refreshing new twist.

Uniform G

High-contrast jewel tones highlight Isthisscience's creation. A white tunic with colourful epaulets and undershirt update a look that was most popular on Deepspace Nine in times past. Classic black slacks round out the ensemble.

Uniform H

Set phasers to stunning in this crisp, clean look by KrazyRoo. Classic black slacks complement a solid white jacket trimmed in black and department hues. Elegant in its simplicity, this uniform is sure to stand the test of time.

Uniform I

This color coordinated ensemble is brought to us by MrBDamien. This modern and updated take on the Starfleet uniform is accented by its class specific matching boots and the white details give it the elegance needed for any dress occasion.

Uniform J

Old meets new in SiranNataan's collection. Sharp two-tone epaulets are sure to catch the eye, whilst a classic cut and clean white fabrics echo dress uniforms from ancient Earth. This nod to the past goes right down to the spit-shined boots and velvet gloves.

Uniform K

SixofNine brings us a sleek, cutting-edge design. Subtle trim and subdued side panels complement deep greys and blacks. The clean silhouette is perfect for showing off a Starfleet-trained physique.

Uniform L

Voleron brings us a simple classic from the past. The original Stonewall Fleet uniform. Tailored to fit even the newest of recruits, this fashionable and functional uniform is accentuated by a light and dark color scheme.

Re: Twenty Years Ago Yesterday: The LGBT March on Washington

April 28 2013
Unfortunately, this is the way that our civil rights movement has to have gone.

It would've been much nicer and simpler if we could've had a national amendment solidifying our equality, but waiting around till public opinion had "evolved" enough to make that possible would've taken even longer. Even now, we're only at ~50% (give or take 3%) support for marriage equality.

We've had good success with our piecemeal approach to progress. I think its actually helped speed people as seeing us normal and productive members of society. Once we had that first marriage win in Massachusetts, we could always point to it and say, "Look, the sky isn't falling in MA!"

I think a big part of the older generations uneasiness (not necessarily that this applies to anyone here) is our assimilation into straight culture. In the 90s and earlier, the gay community wanted to go its own way and develop its own culture. I think in a lot of ways we've lost that.

Guild Trek is almost upon us. Time to prepare!

We are today three days away from having Guild Treks unlocked!

In preparation, I sifted through the dulfy list for any spots that look challenging.

Some locations are inside of or at the end of jumping puzzles and one is right next to a champion ooze.

Here is my first draft of a list of Trek spots worth scouting and a link to the master list:

http://dulfy.net/2013/03/03/gw2-guild-trek-guild-mission-guide/

Bloodtide Coast:
  • [strike]Blood Ooze Gallery[/strike] (easy to get to)
  • Covington's Stowage (easy but tucked away)
  • Portmatt's Promontory (buggy activating JP)
Diessa Plateau:
  • Anya's Patch (easy JP)
  • Blackblade Butte (easy to get to)
Harathi Hinterlands:
  • Fawcett's Porch (end of JP. manageable)
Kessex Hills:
  • [strike]Defiled Delve[/strike] (very easy)
Fields of Ruin:
  • Brandstrike Digs (easy to get to. no jumping)
Malchor's Leap:
  • Delight's Balcony
  • Spectrehaunt Socket
Plains of Ashford:
  • Cademkrall Overlook (easy to get to)
I realize wanting 11 scouting spots is overkill. I'd like to narrow this list down to 6-8 of the toughest spots, but that will take some field research first.

Please feel free to scout some/all of the spots on your own. I would like to organize a group of *at least* 4-6 confident jumpers who know some/all of these spots as a sort of "Trek strike team". As far as I'm concerned though, the more willing scouts the better. :)

Thanks for reading this far! See you all in game. :)

Visitor's Register

Hey,

I was born on Earth on 22nd July of 2375. Fascinated with military since I was a child. Joined Starfleet and wearing this uniform with pride. Main ship: USS Eternity, Odyssey Tactical Cruiser NCC-93202.
Currently I am in All Good Things fleet although that fleet is quite silent since some time which is really pity.
I am Vice-Admiral in game, level 50 playing since December 2012.

You can add me to you contacts in game: Maxwell@maxwel975

Outside STO I am huge fan of Alien movies (except all "mistakes" made by Fox: "AvP", "AvP2" an especially awful "Prometheus" grrrr) and S-F in general. I was haunted by Battlestar Galactica (remake). Favourite book: "The Forever War" by Joe Haldeman.

I love all movies with Sigourney Weaver. She is wonderful.

My favourite Star Trek series: Voyager (Janeway rocks!), TNG and DS9. We have been to Destination Star Trek 2012 in London and met Cpt. Janeway in person.

I love rock music. Few years ago I was able to be on 40-50 concerts per year. I don't do that anymore.

Most of my free time I spend at the gym although not so much time as few years ago.. Getting old perhaps (especially when one will read comment above about my concerts trips hehe).

Currently working as operations manager in European division of the US company.
