Neverwinter Launches, Expect Delays

April 30 2013
Neverwinter entered its open beta today, which is essentially the game's launch since it's free-to-play. Already, Cryptic is reporting that the launchers for all of its games are experiencing loading problems. Therefore, for the next few days, you may want to expect delays and lag when playing STO.

On the flip side, who is going to be checking out Neverwinter? I'm not sure how much time I'll have this week (especially since I need to get those last few CC shards), but I plan on definitely jumping by next week. Had a great time in the little I played of the closed beta.

Re: Twenty Years Ago Yesterday: The LGBT March on Washington

Very well said, Nick.

There is the cultural divide between older and younger in our community that plays into this.

I am not implying the piecemeal approach has ill-served us in any way except one. Us remembering the overall goal, full and equal civil rights for everyone under our banner.

Overall, the modern gay community (meaning both L and G, not B and T) is splintered by subcultural divides or sub-communities. I have no issue with the rainbow of our community, it makes us all unique. I believe my thoughts have to do with how those divides have affected our strategy and tactics.

We have had successes beyond my wildest imaginings and for that, I am grateful. But I would be less of an academic if I did not at least think about the short term implications.

If it had been about his views i would agree, but its just that he was not that good under pressure. The less publicity he gets the better.

I haven't touched GW1 in a few months now, but would definitely like to have a retro night. I think this is a great idea :cheer:

Guild Wars 1 interest?

April 30 2013
I remember talking about this in passing with someone.

Would anyone be interested in playing Guild Wars 1 with their SWVG guildies?

It would be fun to maybe schedule a monthly retro night or make a GW1 chapter of SWVG for random grouping.

Any interest? No interest at all? :) Reply to this topic with your response.

(secretly promoting this because I want the cat mini you get if you have enough GW1 hall of monuments things....)

Re: Guild Trek is almost upon us. Time to prepare!

April 30 2013
blah, I typed out this detailed plan and then it didn't send. /cry

So, I was thinking to do trek tier 3 with two full teams.

Double up number assignments (person A gets 1&2, person B gets 3&4, etc.)

Send all ten people to the hardest spots (which are actually mostly very easy)

Activate the trek and anyone who is at one of the activated spots claims it.

Then people check the list for their number assignments and head out.

pros:
- 10 of the 150 potential spots are already claimed before trek starts
- in the event we do claim a spot, we have extra bodies to help if someone DCs or has trouble with their assigned spots

cons:
- potential to start across the world from your assigned spots and incur some costly travel
- potential to have two or three people porting to the same zone (which is of little concern to me)

This is the best plan I could come up with without having ever done a trek. :P

There are 30 potential zones (every PvE zone except Lion's Arch and Southsun Cove) with 5 possible scouting spots in each (thank you anet for so evenly distributing the spots).

Thoughts? Think this plan is worth testing out?

-Bren

p.s. I like wiki.guildwars2's trek list more than dulfy's (it's sortable. I love sorting) :)

I can't say I'm not amused that this story sucked all of the oxygen in the sports news world away from the story of a certain sanctimonious quarterback who was booted from his team today.

As long as we get at least 20 players involved, which shouldn't be an issue in the near future, we should be able to breeze through these. I would think we could probably assign members that are taking place a number (1-20) and then when we pop the mission, the guild member goes after the location that corresponds to their number in the position of the listed locations. If there are 20+ members, 20 minutes should be enough time to finish 1 trek location each. *fingers crossed*

As always... Amazing work, Ali! It's going to be tough not being able to read another edition of Stonewall Times. In the little time I've been with Stonewall, I've grown fond to the eager anticipation of reading a new edition of the guild magazine. Your talents are great and dedication to the guild much appreciated. I'm so very glad we got a chance to work together on the last two editions.

Your talents will take you far. I hope your career in the education field rewards you with a much deserved beautiful future.

What a great read. This is only the second edition I have read, being fairly new to Stonewall. The articles confirm the Stonewall has some very talented people. Stonewall also has many many great people that make up the different parts of the whole. I am so proud to be a member and friends with some of the LGBT community's greatest people. I am sorry to see Ali step down but life must come first and from what it sounds like he will have his hands full with the Education Refit. Good Luck Ali. I do hope we get to see you among the stars once in a while!

Jacien's article enlightened me even further and that coupled with all the wonderful guys in the fleet answering my non stop questions, holding my hand through STF's and such has turned the game around for me. to that I thank all.

Damn it SW:ToR...I will definitively have to revisit you.

Thank you, everybody, for the incredible feedback. I truly appreciate it :)

The article 'Disunited' in this edition of the magazine, in which we talk about gay sportsmen with author Anthony Camber, was written two weeks ago. Amazingly, today - the same day we publish the magazine - a player in the NBA has come out as gay.

How's that for being topical? ;)

Re: Guild Trek is almost upon us. Time to prepare!

April 30 2013
hehe yeah, they'll probably just get rolled into the current guild bounty times (which I think are going to both be after 6pm).

The missions are 20 minutes and we have to find 5, 10, or 20 spots depending on the Tier. 5 and 10 will be a breeze, but 20 is where the challenge is. :) If you have any ideas about how to organize/orchestrate the 20 spot find I'm happy to hear 'em.

Thank you so much Ali for your hard work and dedication to the Stonewall Times! It has been deeply appreciated. The issues that you've put together have been the absolute best we've ever released. The quality and care you've put in to every issues shows how much you cared for the Times and the community. Thank you!
