To be fair, Lucas did a pretty damn good job of that one with the last trilogy. At the rate the series is going, three separate generations will likely have three very different expectations for Star Wars.

I have to admit that I've been watching it too. But there are things that bug me. I can accept that they've rehashed others (Facescape, Firefly, Eureka - which I actually liked) but their use of some technology just doesn't jive. They use wireless communicators. I'll give you that they were probably brought by the aliens. But how are they functioning in a post-apocalyptic world? Also, where do they find gas to drive cars that are in really good condition after the Fall?

It might not last long at all. But I'll enjoy Datak being a weirdo until it ends. :laugh:

The Fleet Uniforms have been updated in Stonewall Fleet and Deep Space Stonewall!

Head to the nearest tailor to update yours now! You can select the uniform option for your class on the Customize Your Outfit page, after clicking Advanced. The first option is a drop down list that will allow you to select the appropriate uniform.

There is now an optional skirt for female characters. If your character is female, but you'd prefer pants, you're more then welcome to. Becareful though, selecting the non-skirt version of the uniform will not load the correct pants for you. You will need to select the manually.

For male characters, don't select the skirt options. They will not load correctily and will give you completely incorrect fleet uniform.

So Defiance has been out for a couple weeks now and I'm sure many of you are watching it. What do you all think of it so far?

To me, it seems like a new Eureka, with a different premise which makes sense. Eureka had a good following and decent ratings for the Sy-fy network. Its understandable that they'd try to repeat that success, but I was never a fan of Eureka. I'm finding a lot of the reasons why I didn't like Eureka repeated in Defiance; bland plot lines, silly character drama. I find myself really not liking the aliens. They've completed destroyed the Earth, on purpose or not.

The mystery of the fall and what's in the cave is interesting enough to keep me going for awhile, but I hope this show finds it footing sooner rather than later.

Bit off topic, so I apologize, but you may you want to visit the STO forums--I did a search and don't see anything about a free skill respec coming with the expansion. There's a free "retrait" because the trait system has been completely changed, but it has nothing to do with skills.

As a sci captain, I guess I'll put my two cents worth in.

Firstly, I know what you mean (from experience) when you say that you suffer from the "this sounds nice" build; my current build is exactly that because I am too lazy to respec before the free respec that will come with the Romulan expansion.

I agree with Keston (betazoidhalf) when he says that there are two roles you can play as a sci: healer or crowd control. Since you like to crowd control in space and heal on the ground, I will share with you some things that I have found useful. When running in a group (like in an STF), DPS isn't all that important for someone running crowd control. My opinion is to stick to either beams or cannons, not both, with a croniton torpedo on the front. When I run crowd control, I run at a very low weapon power setting anyways, so the phaser beams I have are merely for show. The one thing I will say about skill build is that if you are to run crowd control in space, max out your graviton generator skill and particle generator skill.

When I am running crowd control in space, my best friend are skill combos for added DPS. If I am targeting one ship, I like a gravity well and tractor beam combo: the gravity well does some good DPS if the target is at the event horizon, and the tractor beam does just that. If I am targeting multiple ships, I like to cluster them up with a gravity well and then hit them with some warp plasma, and no matter what I am doing, I always spam my croniton torpedo spread whenever the skill is up. I could go for a while about this, but I won't. I hope this helps a little bit.
