Thats what bugged me, I wanted to know why they came, how they terraformed the earth etc etc.. other than just a voice over.
Maybe they will explain it as the series moves on... but sadly after the 3rd episode.. I was bored, I wasnt gripped.

The bridge lit up and the smoke was sucked out of the holodeck. An exit appeared and there stood the professor. He entered the holodeck, "end program" and looked around. Aden and I stood next to each other eyeing the professor. "This is the first time anyone who has taken this test committed a murder suicide." He stated. "You pass. Now I believe you have to meet your parents." I looked at Aden grabbed his hand and shook it. "Lets get together when I get back I owe you dinner for allowing me to blow you up". I cried running out the door.

I ran to the Transporter room and met my parents. Of course they already knew I passed. We stepped onto the transporter and beamed up to their ship. I found out that this is where the joining would take place as they wanted to be here for my graduation and orders. I was nervous and my mother knew it. My communicator buzzed as a signal from the ground was patched through. It was Aden.

"Why did you run out so fast?" He asked
"I am sorry it is my joining today. I am quite scared and nervous. If it fails I may never see anyone again. I don't know what to expect. Perhaps you would come up to our ship and keep me company until the procedure takes place? I asked innocently.

"I am a medical graduate" he stated.

"But have you ever performed a Trill joining before?" I asked with a laugh. "I'll meet you in the transporter room, I hope your ready to beam up." I headed to the transporter room and took over the console. Tapping my badge "Energizing" I activated the transport and brought him up to the ship.

Aden and I had known each other through classes. We had become friends over a short period of time. I was attracted to him on several levels and found it comforting that at least someone I knew a little bit would on hand during the procedure. With a flash of yellow sparkly light he was there on the pad in mid sentence. "I hope you had a safe trip" I said smiling at him. I grabbed his arm and pulled him out of the room and down the hall towards my quarters. "You can bunk with me until I am recovered. I will introduce you to everyone at dinner in 3 hours."

We entered my quarters the smell of lavender filled the room. I loved the fragrance and so tended to over use it. I stepped up to the replicator and requested a Saurian Brandy and an Irish Coffee. "What will you have Aden? I asked innocently.

"The same" he said. He liked the combination I had introduced him to several weeks before. The warm Irish coffee with the kick of the Saurian Brandy made for a wonderful warming feeling.

I'm surprised no one mentioned Alien Nation as an obvious source.

You know, since Romulans don't have their own fleets, it's kind of an open question how that's going to work. I believe unaligned romulans won't be able to join fleets, so a "neutral" uniform won't be necessary. Then again, since items you unlock can't be included in a fleet uniform and romulans have to unlock faction-specific costume options by picking a side, there's a chance you can't include faction-specific romulan costume pieces in fleet uniforms at all. Of course, if the uniforms can include those options, the fact that they'll be in separate fleets would mean that different uniforms for KDF and Starfleet-aligned romulans would be an appealing and easy choice.

I would love to see a whole town dedicated to the Theme. There is so much that you can do with it! The cantina restaurant, a space dock, a trash compactor foam/ball pit, piloting an x-wing on the attack run. So many things!

A scenario I am only more excited for now that Disney owns Star Wars. That whole IP is fucking TAILOR MADE for inclusion into Kingdom Hearts.

I doubt they'll do a whole land. My guess is that this means Star Wars will be integrated into Disney Parks to the extent that Disney's other IPs are. I imagine that this means you'll have Star Wars characters roaming the parks, Star Wars music playing over the sound systems (if it wasn't already), Star Wars floats and characters in the parades, and probably a cantina-themed restaurant next to Star Tours in Tomorrowland.

The biggest physical addition I could see is making a new ride or section in California Adventure in Disneyland and MGM Studios in Disney World. Making an entire park doesn't make sense business-wise. Theme parks require a very steady stream of business in order to keep afloat, and making an entire theme park ride on the popularity of something as fickle as a movie series is just way too risky.

I read the premise of Defiance and it seems to me they crammed every single idea that might be the least bit hip. Aliens! Oh, and post-apocalyptic stuff! And mutants! Oh, and we'll have energy beings, just because! I have no interest.
