Re: Star Wars into Darkness - minor spoilers
Been obsesing over this I think it was a Bynar not an Android
Bynars always worked in pairs and were wee little purple people.

I think that some people's disappointment with this movie (as others have said), is because in large part, they're hoping for the traditional Star Trek that they remember.
After seeing the first movie, I realized that for me to be able to enjoy the new series, I could no longer think of the J.J. movies as the Star Trek I'd come to know and love; the two are completely different and separate things in my mind, despite them having the same name. They're just movies designed to cast as wide of a net as possible, in order to bring in the biggest audience and net the most money, without challenging social norms or providing hope for the future, beyond the potential for good looking guys in their early thirties to be sailing through space, representing Earth behind the wheel of a Trillion dollar space ship.
As heart-wrenching as it at first was to come to terms with the fact that the franchise I loved wasn't represented in the reboot, it really has allowed me to enjoy the movies for what they are as opposed to being upset over what they're not... and then I squee a little bit when there's a reference or head-nod to the Star Trek series that I really care about :D
My 11-year-old and I agreed that it was a great movie, specifically that it was much better than the first one. We really enjoyed it.
My only complaint was about the cinematography, which I thought was too jumbled, chaotic, and jumpy. But I liked the plot and story a lot. Best movie I've seen in quite a while.
I could have done without them putting Kirk in bed with two alien girls. That made for a fun ride home...
