We now have a Guild Flagship!

October 17 2014
I'm pleased to announce Knights of Stonewall's newest acquisition: our guild flagship, THE STONEWALL!

I think I speak for everyone when I say, YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!!!!! *does a really embarrassing dance* Major props to Jacian for being our sugar daddy on this one -- I really need to take some lessons from you about acquiring cash -- and Ltervlet for setting it all up!

Now onto business.....

We can move the guild ship to any of the planets. When we do this and enable the Orbital Support function, every player from our guild who quests on this planet receives some buffs to damage, healing, damage reduction, and max health. It'll also help streamline travel on the planet (summon players to you, transport to anywhere on the planet -- still need to look into this further though).

It costs 20k credits to move the ship, and then it costs another 50k to enable the Orbital Support function. So this is something we probably won't do very often but it's not terribly cost prohibitive either.

Now the question is: Where do we want to locate the guild ship? We have a lot of members on a lot of different planet and in various stages of character progression, so this is a tough question.

I have a few suggestions for now (please feel free to share your own!):
 • A large planet with a lot of missions. Sorry, Quesh, we probably just wouldn't get the benefit from putting it there.
 • A mid-tier or later-tier planet. It seems like a lot of the membership is either already at 55 or getting ready for the mid- to later-tier planets. All these characters have to progress through here, that way everyone gets a chance to get these bonuses.

All that being said, here are my suggestions:
 • Belsavis: It's a big planet, lots of missions. Level 41-44.
 • Hoth: Big planet, quite a few missions, takes a LONG time to get around. Level 37-41
 • Corellia: Big planet, quite a few missions. Level 47-50.
 • Voss: A lot of missions, decent sized planet. Level 44-47.
 • Alderaan: Huge planet, lots of mission, long time to get around. Level 28-32.
 • Balmorra (Republic): Decent size, quite a few missions. Level 32-36.

Of that list, I probably wouldn't do Balmorra just because it's Republic-only, and we don't have to worry about getting attacked by Imperials there. Otherwise, they all look pretty good to me. One other thing to consider is the amount of end-game content on those planets. Belsavis and Corellia have the dailies there, so it might help with those.

What do you guys think?

I'm a completionist so I can't leave a planet till I've completed all the missions which means I'm WAY ahead of the leveling curve for the planet so this does nothing for me but it's still an appreciated gesture. :)

[EVENT] Captain Biography Contest!

October 16 2014

Original Biography, updated for 2410 and Submittal to the contest. Thanks!

Name: Steven R. Rasilek

Species: El Aurian/Human

Age: 117 Years

Assignment: USS Deep Sky, NCC-74121-A

Background
Born in 2294 and raised on Alpha Centauri. Father (Calin Rokien) was an El Aurian refugee among those rescued by the Enterprise-B a year prior. Mother, Joanna, was human and served as a community outreach representative for the Federation. Following his rescue, Calin took residence at Alpha Centauri where he met Joanna Rasilek, where they eventually married and had 2 children.

Joanna fell ill to a rare nerve ailment while enroute home from a follow-up visit with a new race. She died in 2310 despite extensive treatment. Calin remained in Alpha Centauri, raising his 2 sons and giving them their mother’s last name in her beloved memory.

Aside from graduating with honors at Alpha Centauri University, not much is known of Steven’s upbringing at that time until he left for Starfleet Academy in 2350. However, Steven had seemed to take on his El Aurian side with regards to life span, of which his physicians predict would endure for several hundred years.

Early Starfleet Career
Steven graduated from SFA in 2357, excelling mainly in Astrophysics and Starship Engineering. He spent the first years of his career at the shipyards of Earth Spacedock where he participated as a systems design assistant in multiple starship construction projects. In 2365, he accepted a new assignment on the Enterprise-D where he worked among various science and engineering teams until the ship’s destruction in 2371.

Steven then took promotion to Lieutenant and a new assignment at Starbase 119 as Spacedock operations coordinator, meanwhile pursuing a personal construction project on the side. His resourcefulness earned from his time at the shipyards allowed him to finish design of the USS Deep Sky, an Excelsior class cruiser meant for deep space exploration and study.

Following the Deep Sky’s commission in 2373, it wasn’t long until Rasilek was assigned command of the vessel amidst a shortage of resources under the growing incursion of the Dominion into Federation space. The ship was then outfitted with weaponry vice its science equipment in hopes to benefit the war front.

Steven quickly adapted into his command of a starship through applying his knowledge of the ship’s design along with his interdisciplinary experience from his time on the Enterprise.

Wartime Tribulation
In 2374, while on patrol along bordering territories, the Deep Sky came under attack by a squad of Jem Hadar warships. She put up a strong fight before a Starfleet/Klingon Patrol group had arrived to assist. The Deep Sky was ultimately destroyed before the reinforcements could completely ward off the remaining Jem-Hadar ships. While Rasilek’s order to abandon ship was narrowly successful, nearly all hands were still lost while the Jem Hadar proceeded to incinerate many of the fleeing escape pods. Rasilek was among the 47 remaining crew that survived the onslaught, out of the 320 souls aboard.

Meanwhile, Rasilek’s father and brother had both been killed while visiting Betazed during that world’s invasion by Dominion forces.

In dealing with personal struggle over the loss of his crew, his friends, and family during the war, Steven deemed himself unfit for duty and he resigned from Starfleet in 2375 shortly after the non-aggression treaty was signed with the Dominion. He then took residence on Earth, a hiatus lasting for over 30 years.

Return to Space
In 2407 at 113 years old, Rasilek came to terms with his previous experiences. Growing bored of his civilian life, the stars called once more and he decided to return to Starfleet. Steven was required to take a series of refresher courses at SFA where he also took another degree in Tactical Studies. He once more became an officer in 2409, but with the rank of Lt. Commander. He was assigned to the USS Moontide, a Centaur class vessel where he assisted in defense and rescue during the 3rd Borg Incursion into Federation Space. Following the Borg’s defeat, he was promoted to Commander and given command of the ship by Admiral Quinn shortly thereafter. Rasilek accepted.

As the continued conflict with the Borg raged on, Rasilek served through several command assignments, and several ships including the USS Astoria, the USS Alero, and the USS Arroway. His numerous commendations on the warfront had promptly earned him the rank of Captain. As that tour against the Borg concluded, his new assignment had ultimately returned him to the Captain’s chair of the Deep Sky-A, a grand Odyssey class starship that bears the name once more.

Currently, the Deep Sky has since departed Federation space and, with Starfleet and its allies, continues its mission of exploration into the Delta Quadrant, operating strategically in exploration and diplomatic envoy in tandem with the USS Eno under command of Rasilek’s close colleague, Captain Arlo K’tzik.

Known fondly by his colleagues as "Ras", Steven is a noted and passionate musician of the guitar, piano and vocals, playing regularly with his crewmates within bands and other casually-arranged ensembles through their voyages.

Guild Update

October 16 2014
A very big thank you to QiqJoe for a very generous donation that set us over the 50 million credit mark. We could not have done it without you! Hopefully we should have a Republic guild ship in the next day or so. If you're able to craft war supplies and/or dark projects, please do so and place them in the guild bank. The War Supplies are needed to craft Dark Projects which are used to unlock more rooms and features on the guild ship.

Also, please consider donating credits to our Imperial guild, Lords of Stonewall so that we may soon purchase a guild ship for them as well. I've still got a grip of cartel items to auction off so hopefully we'll be able to get an Imp guild ship soon as well!

I've been doing some crafting for the War Supplies: Invasion Force and put those in the bank. I also donated some credits to the cause, though not NEARLY as much as Jacian. That tipped us over the 50 million mark on the Republic side. Hopefully we'll be getting that one flagship soon. :)

As far as raids go, I'd love to do them -- never have in this game. My work schedule will change in just over a month, and I'll be working days like a normal person. So I should be able to raid during the week pretty easily. Mon-Thurs most likely after 7 pm Eastern time.

Quite interesting....when I pre-ordered the expansion there was NO MENTION of the 12x xp leveling being limited to class missions. It was just an announcement of increased leveling capability which I thought was a GREAT reason to pre-order....Oh well, hopefully the 3 or 4 class missions per planet will be enough to get a character to 55. I will just have to give it a try to find out for sure!

Yeah, it's been going really well so far if you do ALL the missions on a planet. Right now I'm skipping some of the general-world content (and will come back to it) on my Bounty Hunter and Trooper, which are the only classes I haven't maxed out yet. I'm not sure if that's a sustainable way to go; I've heard people in-game say they have to complete some other content to supplement the class missions while they're leveling.

Regardless, though, leveling is much faster even with the class missions just at 12x. It makes you much more over-leveled, which makes the fights easier.

Does anyone know if the 12x continues past the release of Shadow of Revan? Or is it just on the lead-up to the release?

EDIT: Just looked at the website regarding the 12x XP:
The event will run until midnight on December 1st, at which point XP rates for class missions will return to normal for all players.

Guild Update

October 16 2014
Recently, we’ve seen some great improvements in SWTOR, including the release of Galactic Strongholds and now with the next expansion, Revan Has Returned, coming out in just a few months. Its time to change some things up in Knight and Lords of Stonewall and revitalize the guild.

Recruitment | First and foremost, we need to get more people into the guild. New member registrations has been slow for sometime, but there’s a ton of room for us to grow. TOR does have a large user base and we’re currently the only active glbta guild. We need members to start recruiting for Knights and Lords of Stonewall. To begin with, we can start by shouting out a recruitment speech in General chat as we play. To help with this, we’ve given Members the ability to invite into both guilds. Now, when you find an interested player, you don’t need to wait for an Officer to come online to invite them.

Here are a couple sample shouts:

is a gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and straight ally guild. We're currently looking for new members to revitalize our community. Learn more about us at http://knightofstonewall.com.

is a gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and straight ally guild. We're currently looking for new members to revitalize our community. Learn more about us at http://knightofstonewall.com.

There’s a few important parts of this. First of all, we bill ourselves as a GLBTA guild, not a gay-friendly guild. We’re not gay friendly, we are gay. If you’ve ever been in a gay-friendly guild, you know the difference. Our community is ran by the glbta community for the glbta community with their values at its core. Secondly, we direct them back to our website and hopefully they register. This way they show that true interest in joining a community. They’re willing to put their name, or username as it be, down as a member and that kind of commitment speaks to what kind of member they will be.

Raiding | Next, we need to give our future members and current members something to do. While it’s nice to have the Stonewall name over your head, it doesn’t mean much when you don’t feel part of the group. We need to build that by teaming together. SWTOR has some great raids in it with some awesome story lines. We can tackles these challenges as a community. I’d like to set up a weekly raiding night to get us started. Please respond below with what day of the week is best for you. It’d be awesome if someone was willing to take charge of this. As well, this will help us reach our next goal.

Guild Strongholds | As mentioned above, Strongholds were recently added to the game. They provide a fascinating new aspect of game play, plus allow guilds to build their own home among the stars and customize it as they like. At 50 Million Credits per guild, the entrance price is steep, but thanks to Jacien’s efforts we’re almost to our first unlock. He’s managed to raise 35 Million Credits through some Master of Whispers esque maneuvers, but that still leaves us 65 Million left to raise, plus an additional 75 Million each and some seriously epic crafting materials to unlock additional rooms. If someone was interested in helping set the guild on the right track for how to raise Credits quickly or how to get the mats we need, that'd be greatly appreciated!

Knights and Lords of Stonewall can be amazing, but everyone needs to pitch in. While our community is large, our involvement is low. We need those that are here to participate, lend a helping hand and take some initiative to grow our guild. We’ve got our work cut out for us, but if any community can do it, its us!

Yup, you can complete those missions at any time. I remember when I first discovered the missions on Dromund Kaas just southeast of Kaas City. I had no idea that little area was up there with 2-3ish missions. I had to go back on all my toons I had leveled past there and complete it (I hate leaving ANYTHING unfinished).

You should be able to, yes. I believe you're always able to go back and complete any skipped general storyline missions on any planet.

And don't forget the 12x XP boost on class missions when you preorder -- easy to level all the different toons!

Yes, thanks QiqJoe, that's right. Whether you're a subscriber or not, you still can level quickly through your character's storyline when you purchase the expansion now through December third. Really too good an opportunity to pass up if you're an alt-aholic like myself.

Exactly. That's the reason I've preordered it.
I got only one character (smuggler), however I'm a bit too far in my story-line compared to my current level (45). Stuck at Voss and had to go back to Hoth where I got only one mission to level up grrrrr
